The Pelican Town of Stardew Valley is home to more than 40 diverse characters. Among them is Gus, the friendly and dedicated owner of the popular Stardrop Saloon. With his impressive skills as a bartender and creative chef, Gus ensures that the saloon remains a cherished gathering place for the townsfolk. He warmly welcomes everyone and strives to make them feel at home with his exceptional hospitality.
Aside from being hospitable, Gus has a refined taste and appreciates thoughtful gifts, much like the other villagers in Stardew Valley. Like other NPCs in the game, players can offer him up to two gifts per week, which can affect his Friendship level either positively or negatively depending on the gift. On Gus's birthday, which is on Summer Eight, players have the opportunity to give him an additional present, which has a much greater impact on Friendship level, eight times stronger than usual.

Upon receiving something he loves, Gus is genuinely astonished and openly expresses his immense joy and heartfelt appreciation. Embracing the concept of universally adored gifts, Gus exhibits profound affection for the following items.
Diamond
A Diamond is a valuable gemstone available in Stardew Valley. Players can acquire this precious item through multiple sources, such as Diamond Nodes found on Levels 50 and above in the Mines, as well as Gem Nodes scattered throughout the Mines on any floor. Additionally, Diamonds may occasionally be obtained as drops from defeating monsters once players have reached the deepest levels of the Mines.
Escargot
Diamonds can sometimes be discovered inside Fishing Treasure Chests or obtained through Panning. Deep within the Mines, players may stumble upon these precious gemstones hidden within Garbage Cans. Additionally, when defeating a Wilderness Golem, there is a rare 0.1% possibility of obtaining a diamond as a drop.
Escargot is a delectable dish made from juicy snails soaked in butter. These succulent snails are cooked to perfection and can only be prepared in the upgraded farmhouse kitchen within the game. Alternatively, players can utilize a Cookout Kit to whip up a delightful serving of Escargot. To unlock the recipe for this culinary delight, players must reach a five-heart friendship with Willy, who will then send the recipe via mail. The essential ingredients necessary for this gastronomic masterpiece include one Snail and one Garlic.
Fish Taco
Fish Tacos in Stardew Valley offer a delightful harmonization of flavors and textures. To prepare this delectable dish, players must utilize a kitchen that is enhanced with an upgraded Farmhouse. The recipe for this scrumptious creation is bestowed upon the players by Linus through the Mail service, specifically when they have developed a solid seven-heart friendship with him. The necessary ingredients consist of a Tuna, a Tortilla, a Red Cabbage, and Mayonnaise.
Players can purchase Fish Tacos from Krobus’s Shop on Saturdays for a price range of 50 to 500 gold. Additionally, these delectable treats can be found in the rotating stock at Stardrop Saloon for 1,000 gold. On rare occasions, they can also be spotted at the Traveling Cart for a higher cost of 1,500-2,500 gold.
Orange
Oranges, known for their juicy and tangy flavor, are a fruit that thrives on Orange Trees. To cultivate an Orange Tree, players must plant an Orange Sapling and patiently wait for 28 days. These trees only bear fruit during the Summer season. An Orange Sapling can be obtained from Pierre’s General Store for 4,000 gold, or occasionally found at the Traveling Cart for 3,000–5,000 gold.
In rare instances, players may also come across Oranges available for purchase from the Traveling Cart, ranging from 300–1,000 gold. Unfortunately, they cannot be found or bought anywhere else within the game.
Tropical Curry
The Tropical Curry, presented in a pineapple bowl, is a remarkable masterpiece in Stardew Valley's culinary world. This unique curry is a delightful dish prepared within the upgraded farmhouse's kitchen or by using a Cookout Kit. To create this aromatic delicacy, the recipe can be acquired from Ginger Island's Beach Resort for the cost of 2,000 gold. The essential ingredients include 1 Coconut, 1 Pineapple, and 1 Hot Pepper.
Gus’ Liked Gifts
The only alternative for players who have not yet unlocked the Kitchen and cannot wait until Summer to acquire some Oranges is to present Gus with something he truly enjoys. Among all universally favored gifts (excluding Coleslaw, which he detests), Gus appreciates receiving Daffodils. Upon receiving a gift he likes, Gus excitedly exclaims, "Oh goodness! Are you sure?"
Daffodils
Daffodils, a traditional spring flower, make an excellent gift for Gus. These delicate yellow blooms possess the ability to brighten anyone's day. In the Valley, players can discover Daffodils by engaging in the act of Foraging during the spring season. By Foraging in Pelican Town, players have a 100% chance of obtaining Daffodils. Additionally, Daffodils can be cultivated from Spring Seeds. Nonetheless, achieving Foraging Level 1 is necessary in order to grow and forage Daffodils.
Regrettably, Daffodils cannot be found for sale in any of the shops located in Pelican Town. The only opportunity for players to acquire them is during the Flower Dance Festival. Pierre arranges a Booth specifically for this event, where he offers ten Daffodils for a price of 50 gold. The festival is held annually on Spring 24 in the enchanting Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley is currently accessible on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
