introduces an exciting addition to the Star Trek franchise. This animated series will feature a stellar lineup of guest actors including Ethan Peck, Gates McFadden, Celia Rose Gooding, Connor Trinneer, and Ethan Phillips.On September 8th, the initial installment of the series, titled "Skin a Cat," will be released, with four more shorts following each week. Alongside the series, a new comic book titled "Star Trek: The Animated Celebration Presents The Scheimer Barrier" will make its digital debut on the same day.
Star Trek commemorates 50 years of Star Trek: The Animated Series with the return of Short Treks in the form of a new series of animated shorts. During San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Star Trek revealed that esteemed actors such as Jonathan Frakes (Commander Will Riker), Doug Jones (Saru), and Armin Shimerman (Quark) would be lending their voices to the new animated shorts. These shorts are being developed by creative consultant Casper Kelly, renowned for his work on Star Trek: Short Treks and Adult Swim, as well as his viral sensation Too Many Cooks.
The name of this new series is Star Trek: very Short Treks. On September 8th, which is Star Trek Day, the first of these very Short Treks, titled "Skin a Cat," will exclusively premiere on StarTrek.com and the Star Trek YouTube channel at 1pm EST/10am PST. The guest voice cast for Star Trek: Very Short Treks has been expanded with the addition of Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as D'Vana Tendi, and George Takei as Sulu.
Furthermore, Casper Kelly will be collaborating with IDW Publishing to release a new comic book titled Star Trek: The Animated Celebration Presents The Scheimer Barrier. The digital debut of the comic's first chapter will take place on September 8 on StarTrek.com, while physical copies will be available at New York Comic Con in October.
