Several players from The Squid Game: The Challenge are now planning to sue the production company, claiming they endured hardships on set. The series, based on the popular South Korean show, features 456 players competing for a chance to win $4.56 million.
Since its debut, the show has faced controversy, with critics claiming that it fails to capture the original message of Squid Game, which was a critique of the negative impacts of capitalism and societal isolation. Additionally, the co-producer, Studio Lambert, is facing legal threats due to allegations of disturbing conditions experienced by players during filming of a prominent game.
Squid Game: The Challenge contestants threaten lawsuit
Several participants of Squid Game: The Challenge have enlisted the assistance of a UK law firm, alleging that they experienced "injuries such as hypothermia and nerve damage" during the filming of the 'Red Light, Green Light' game.
The first episode of the Netflix series was filmed at Cardington Studios in Bedford, UK in January. Express Solicitors, a personal injury law firm in the UK, stated that the players claimed there were inadequate health and safety standards on set. According to a statement from the company, the contestants on Netflix's new show, Squid Game: The Challenge, have asked Daniel Slade, Chief Executive Officer (Legal) at Express Solicitors, to assist them in pursuing compensation for injuries sustained during the filming of the show in January.
Slade announced that they have sent letters of claim on behalf of the contestants who were injured on the show. In a statement to Deadline, he acknowledged that some may view this as a traditional David and Goliath struggle against the company and its production partners.
He added, "Contestants believed they were participating in a fun activity, and those who were injured did not anticipate suffering as they did. They are now dealing with injuries after being subjected to painful stress positions in cold temperatures."
Squid Game: The Challenge spokesperson stated that no lawsuit has been filed by any of the contestants and emphasized their commitment to the welfare of the participants. For updates on the situation, visit the designated source.

As a passionate fan of the original Squid Game series, I am deeply troubled by the allegations of on-set hardships and injuries sustained by contestants on Squid Game: The Challenge. The reports of inadequate health and safety standards, hypothermia, and nerve damage are extremely concerning and should be thoroughly investigated. The well-being of the participants should always be a top priority in any production, and it is disheartening to hear that they may have been subjected to such distressing conditions.
The fact that several contestants are now considering legal action against the production company, Studio Lambert, further highlights the seriousness of the situation. It is important for the company to take responsibility for any negligence or misconduct that may have occurred and to ensure that appropriate compensation is provided to those who were affected. The pursuit of legal action by the contestants is a necessary step in seeking justice and holding the production company accountable for its actions.
