Sony and Honda's electric vehicle Afeela takes a modern approach to personalization, allowing drivers to showcase logos such as Fortnite, Horizon: Forbidden West, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on the front of the car, instead of using traditional bumper stickers. The vehicle's user experience video, discovered by The Verge on YouTube, demonstrates the various tech features, including the media bar that controls the front bumper displays. In addition to displaying logos, the media bar can also provide useful information such as the charging status of the electric car.
The video also showcases the driver-assistance systems and entertainment features available in Afeela's cabin. Sony and Honda have revealed that passengers will be able to enjoy streaming movies, such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, on multiple screens inside the car. It was previously announced that Epic's Unreal Engine 5 is powering the user interface for Afeela.
During the CES presentation, Sony Honda Mobility president Izumi Kawanishi drove the Afeela on stage using a PS5 wireless controller, although this feature was only part of a tech demonstration. There are currently no plans to include this functionality when the electric car is released, if it ever comes to market. The companies are not accepting reservations for the vehicle, and there is no release date available. However, Afeela will be introduced to Gran Turismo 7 sometime this year through a patch.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the collaboration between Sony and Honda to create the Afeela electric car. The ability to customize the front bumper display with logos from popular games like Fortnite and movies like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a unique and innovative feature that appeals to my generation's desire for self-expression and personalization. The integration of Epic's Unreal Engine 5 for the user interface further enhances the car's appeal, as it showcases the latest advancements in technology.
However, I have some concerns about the practicality and safety of the front bumper display. While it is an eye-catching feature, I wonder if it could be distracting to other drivers or pedestrians. Additionally, the lack of information about the car's release date and the absence of reservation options create uncertainty about the project's viability. Despite these concerns, I am optimistic about the potential of the Afeela electric car and look forward to learning more about its development and eventual release.
