Sega surprised its fans last month with the announcement of a new 3D Sonic the Hedgehog adventure reminiscent of games like Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes. The game, Sonic Dream Team, is now available exclusively on iOS devices for free for those with an active Apple Arcade subscription.
In Sonic Dream Team, players can take control of one of six characters - Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Cream, and Rouge - as they engage in battles with Dr. Eggman and his robotic army once again. This time, Eggman has found an ancient device called The Reverie, which has the power to "make dreams a reality". It's now up to Sonic and his friends to stop him.
Sonic Dream Team features 12 new levels in dream worlds constructed by Eggman with the Reverie. Each world offers expansive 3D environments for exploration, with each character possessing unique abilities for progressing in distinct ways: Tails can fly using his two tails, while Knuckles can scale walls with his fists.
The game is developed by Hardlight, known for prior games such as Two Point Hospital, Sonic Racing, and Chu Chu Rocket Universe on Apple Arcade. Following the launch of the 2D adventure Sonic Superstars in October for consoles and PC, Sonic Dream Team is the second Sonic game released this year.
Sonic Dream Team is available today for free for Apple Arcade subscribers on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.
