Over time, passkeys will gradually replace the need for passwords. The concept is straightforward - instead of having to remember numerous passwords, an encrypted passkey will be securely stored on your device, ensuring easy and efficient login. Simply perform a biometric scan or enter a designated PIN, and you will gain instant access to any app or website. Passkeys offer enhanced protection against corporate data breaches and are highly resistant to phishing attempts, effectively surpassing the security provided by conventional passwords.
Google's Credential Manager is a user-friendly interface that handles passwords, passkeys, and federated identity services. When you are prompted to log into an app, the Credential Manager will appear and present all relevant login methods, allowing you to choose how you want to access the app or which account to use.
