Simone Biles is on her way to her third Olympic Games as she takes part in the Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships this week. The event will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, and will feature Biles, a seven-time Olympic medalist, as well as gold medalist Suni Lee. Lee recently won the all-around title at the Core Hydration Classic earlier this month and will be competing alongside Biles in the championships.
She is aiming to win her ninth victory at the national championships, which is the last competition for US gymnasts before the Olympic Trials in late June.
Biles will face tough competition from all-around Olympic gold medalist Lee, as well as team silver medalist Jordan Chiles and reigning Olympic floor champion Jade Carey.
Three-time Olympic champion Gabby Douglas had to pull out of the competition on Wednesday due to an ankle injury she sustained during training. Unfortunately, this means she will not be able to compete at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The women's team for the Olympics will be selected after the trials, with the winner of the all-around competition securing a spot on the team, as reported by NBC.

Biles is back to her winning ways after overcoming the "twisties" at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Last year, the 27-year-old returned to competitive gymnastics following her withdrawal from multiple events due to the mental block that caused her to lose track of her body positions.
After taking a break to focus on her mental well-being, she is back in the game and aiming to make history at the upcoming Olympics. Biles has already made a strong comeback, securing four gold medals and a silver at the world championships last year.
At the Core Hydration Classic in her first competition of 2024, she won the all-around title by finishing ahead of Shilese Jones and Chiles. She led the scoring on floor and vault, and placed second on the uneven bars and balance beam.
Meanwhile, Lee is making her return to the sport after being diagnosed with kidney disease. She impressed by winning the balance beam title at the Core Hydration Classic with a score of 14.600.
