Sia's Candid Confession: Battling Insecurities and Choosing Liposuction Post-Medication Weight Gain
Sia candidly shares her experience of undergoing liposuction due to weight gain caused by medication, expressing her vulnerability and insecurities
Sia, 47, opened up about her recent choice to have liposuction, citing the effects of medication that caused her to gain weight that could not be reduced through exercise or thyroid medication. She announced her decision on X (formerly Twitter) on December 9.
She continued, "I want you to know that I am fortunate to have the means to alter my appearance, and when you see me looking stunning once again, it's not from diet and exercise." The "Cheap Thrills" singer, known for concealing her face with a signature wig, also stated that she wants to be honest about her procedures to avoid perpetuating a system that dictates we are not adequate.
Sia admitted to being insecure like many others and experiencing anxiety due to being in the public eye. She made the decision to alter her appearance to address her confidence issues and asked for prayers and support while expressing her love. This isn't the first time Sia has discussed getting liposuction or plastic surgery. In a 2021 interview, she admitted to getting liposuction on her stomach, but shared that it didn't go as planned and left her with an unfavorable result.

She admitted to the action being a result of her own insecurity. Additionally, Sia spoke about her struggle with severe depression following her divorce from Erik Anders Lang and discussed the topic of getting a facelift while presenting an award to Dr. Ben Talei for Outstanding Achievement in Medicine in October.
