Shohei Ohtani's Generous Gesture: Surprising Joe Kelly's Wife with a Porsche

Shohei Ohtani surprises Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly's wife with a luxurious Porsche, expressing his gratitude for Kelly giving up his No 17 jersey number

Shohei Ohtani, pitcher and designated hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers, surprised his teammate Joe Kelly's wife with a brand new Porsche as a token of appreciation. This extravagant gift came after Ashley Kelly's viral social media campaign, #Ohtake17, urging the two-time American League MVP to join her husband's team.

The Dodgers shared a video of the new car being delivered to the Kelly household on Saturday. In the clip, she is told, "It's yours. From Shohei, he wanted to gift you a Porsche," and she covers her mouth in disbelief.

Before Ohtani committed to the team, Ashley Kelly campaigned quite enthusiastically online, even going as far as to rename her 7-month-old son ShoKai in honor of supporting him.

"I'm all in for Ohtani! Renaming my son in honor of his talent and dedication. #OhtaniFan"

Recently, the Dodgers made history by signing a 10-year, $700 million deal with a Japanese athlete on December 11. Additionally, Joe Kelly signed a new one-year, $8 million deal with the Major League Baseball team, as reported by MLB.com.

The reliever's wife went to great lengths to show Ohtani their devotion, offering him every piece of Dodgers clothing and merchandise they owned with the No. 17 on it. In a social media post on December 8, she displayed all the items she was willing to exchange for Ohtani's commitment to the Dodgers. Holding up a No. 17 Dodgers jersey with "Mama" printed on the back, Ashley Kelly stated, "I already have your mom ready to go, so everything's good there."
