The upcoming Marvel Zombies series within the MCU will showcase a diverse array of characters, encompassing both the living and the undead. This new show, which is a direct continuation of Marvel's What If...? episode inspired by Marvel Zombies, is slated for release in 2024. It will delve back into the grim alternate reality where a deadly virus had overrun the world, turning numerous heroes into insatiable zombies with extraordinary powers. Consequently, the Marvel Zombies series will introduce various characters who are making their debut in this iteration, many of whom have already succumbed to infection.
In the episode titled "What If...Zombies?!", it is revealed that the virus originated from the Quantum Realm and rapidly spread following Hank Pym's ill-fated attempt to save Janet van Dyne, who had already contracted the infection. Although the Avengers were the first responders during the initial outbreak, they too succumbed to the virus, plunging the world into a horrifying zombie apocalypse. Despite some survivors' valiant efforts to discover a cure, they either fell victim to the zombies or were potentially infected themselves, leaving only Scott Lang, Black Panther, and Spider-Man as the sole surviving members by the end of the episode. Consequently, the upcoming Marvel Zombies spin-off will prominently feature both the confirmed zombies and survivors from this episode of What If...?

Having made his first appearance in the What If...? episode, Clint Barton's Hawkeye is poised to make a comeback in Marvel Zombies set in 2024, this time as one of the infected. Just like in What If...?, Clint retains his ability to shoot arrows, which is evident when he attacked and subsequently turned Happy Hogan into a zombie. However, it's worth noting that Zombie Hawkeye and several other characters were summoned during the showdown with Ultron, as depicted in the concluding moments of What If...?, resulting in their demise. This suggests that the events of the upcoming Marvel Zombies will take place before this significant clash with the Guardians of the Multiverse.
15 Captain America (Zombie)
In "What If...Zombies?!", Bucky Barnes used Steve Rogers' own shield to sever the undead Captain America in half. However, it appears that the zombified top half of Captain America will still be featured in the upcoming spin-off series. This was officially announced during Marvel Zombies presentation at D23, where several other characters were also confirmed.
14 Abomination (Zombie)
13 Ghost (Zombie)
Moreover, confirmation has been received that Emil Blonsky's Abomination will join the ranks of the infected in Marvel Zombies. Given the uncertain fate of Bruce Banner's Hulk, who fearlessly charged into a swarm of zombies to provide the other survivors an opportunity to flee, it remains conceivable that Banner might have survived. If this supposition holds true, the potential for a momentous showdown between the Hulk and the undead Blonsky in Marvel Zombies becomes all the more likely. The infected Ghost possesses immense untapped potential in the realm of darkness. If she retains her intangibility powers in the Marvel Zombies universe, Ghost will undoubtedly become an impervious zombie. This could pose significant obstacles for the survivors who remain in the show, presenting them with truly formidable challenges.
12 Captain Marvel (Zombie)
11 Scarlet Witch (Zombie)
Despite not being featured in the What If...? episode, it has been officially confirmed that Captain Marvel will make her debut in Marvel Zombies as one of the undead. This news is quite alarming, particularly due to her tremendously high power levels. In addition to a zombified Captain Marvel, it has been confirmed that Scarlet Witch will also be returning in Marvel Zombies as one of the infected. Despite the Vision's successful cure of Scott Lang and his decapitated head using the Mind Stone, Wanda's chaos magic proved resistant to his treatment. Consequently, Zombie Scarlet Witch is set to become one of the most formidable threats in the new show.
10 Okoye (Zombie)
9 Ikaris (Zombie)
Despite being a survivor in What If...?, General Okoye unfortunately becomes infected by Zombie Scarlet Witch by the end of the episode. It has been officially announced that she will play a part in Marvel Zombies as one of the infected.Making his debut as a Marvel Zombie, Eternals' Ikaris joins the ranks as an infected undead creature. This revelation raises concerns about the immense risk and fatality of the virus from the Quantum Realm, particularly considering Ikaris' unique Eternal physiology. Even the What If...? episode and the shocking image of a zombified Thanos wielding the majority of the Infinity Stones indicate that no species is exempt from the grasp of this menacing virus.
8 Yelena Belova (Survivor)
The aforementioned list of zombies is incredibly powerful and poses a significant threat. However, the forthcoming Marvel Zombies show will also feature a formidable group of survivors, including Yelena Belova, Black Widow's sister. While Natasha Romanov's fate remains uncertain after being attacked by multiple zombies in What If...?, it appears that Yelena will carry on the fight to save the world in honor of her sister, taking up the mantle of the White Widow.
7 Kate Bishop's Hawkeye (Survivor)
Yelena will be accompanied by Hawkeye's Kate Bishop, forming a formidable duo that captivated audiences with their delightful chemistry in the 2021 Hawkeye series. With her remarkable prowess in archery, Kate Bishop unquestionably brings valuable skills to the group of survivors, particularly if they happen to encounter the undead Clint Barton.
6 Agent Woo (Survivor)
5 Red Guardian (Survivor)
The character Special Agent Jimmy Woo from the FBI is also expected to appear in Marvel Zombies. After his initial introduction in the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp, Woo had a more significant role in the series WandaVision. Now, it seems that Woo will be among the fortunate survivors in this grim version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where a zombie apocalypse has taken hold.In Marvel Zombies, Yelena's adoptive father, Red Guardian, will join the ranks of survivors. This presents a unique opportunity for Red Guardian to finally engage in battle with Captain America, debunking the exaggerated stories he has often recounted in the main MCU. However, it is important to note that Red Guardian would only be facing half of Rogers after the shield incident depicted in What If...?
4 Death Dealer (Survivor)
A fascinating addition to the Marvel Zombies storyline, Death Dealer, a talented warrior and esteemed member of the Ten Rings, promises an intriguing presence. As a mentor to Shang-Chi, honing his mastery in martial arts, the expanded role of Death Dealer within an alternate reality is highly anticipated. Despite being a man of few words, it will be captivating to witness Death Dealer's involvement, considering his demise at the hands of the Dweller-in-Darkness in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
3 Shang-Chi (Survivor)
In the concept art for Marvel Zombies, it appears that Shang-Chi could assume a leadership role among the groups of survivors. Additionally, it seems that he has obtained the formidable Ten Rings in this alternate reality, just like in the main MCU. This acquisition should significantly boost the survivors' power against the zombie incarnations of Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and Ikaris.
2 Katy (Survivor)
1 Kamala Khan (Survivor)
: It would be exhilarating to witness Kate Bishop taking over Katy's training as they take turns shooting zombies in the head, considering that Katy, Shang-Chi's friend, will also be one of the survivors in Marvel Zombies. Katy's expertise with a bow and arrow, acquired in the mystical realm of Ta Lo, adds an intriguing twist to the scenario.Confirmed as a survivor in Marvel Zombies, Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel will likely confront her hero Captain Marvel, who has become an infected zombie. This adds a tragic yet highly entertaining twist to the upcoming MCU show set to premiere in 2024 within the context of the zombie genre.
