Shocking Arrest: AEW Star Faces Serious Charges Involving Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

AEW champion arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm in Orange County, Florida Shocking incident rocks the professional wrestling world

Highlights

AEW star Cash Wheeler, one half of the World Tag Team Champions, has been arrested in Orange County, Florida for aggravated assault with a firearm.

Wheeler was arrested following an alleged road rage incident in which he supposedly brandished a firearm, although there was no mention of any physical altercation. AEW is actively observing the situation and Wheeler is cooperating with the local authorities. The impact of this incident on the upcoming AEW All In event and FTR's match against The Young Bucks remains uncertain.

Daniel Wheeler, known professionally as Cash Wheeler, a popular wrestler in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has been arrested in Orange County, Florida. Currently, Wheeler and his longtime partner Dax Harwood are the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions. They are set to defend their championship at the highly anticipated All In pay-per-view event in Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 27.

Throughout his wrestling career, Wheeler has achieved remarkable success. He and Harwood initially gained prominence in WWE as The Revival, a classic tag team rooted in traditional wrestling. The Revival held the tag team titles multiple times across all three of WWE's brands. However, in 2020, they made the decision to move to AEW under the new name FTR.

FTR has experienced similar triumphs within AEW, clinching the AEW World Tag Team Championship on two occasions and currently holding the titles. The future of the AEW World Tag Team Championship remains uncertain following Wheeler's arrest. Wheeler stands accused of committing aggravated assault with a firearm and has been charged with a felony. In a video of the arraignment, it was elucidated that these charges stemmed from an alleged incident of road rage, in which Wheeler purportedly displayed a handgun. The incident allegedly occurred on July 27, and Wheeler entered a plea of not guilty on August 3. AEW is cognizant of the situation and is "closely monitoring" it, as stated in a release addressed to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.

The upcoming All In on August 27 is expected to be the biggest AEW show ever. One of the highly anticipated matches on the card is FTR vs. The Young Bucks. However, there is a possibility that Wheeler may be unable to travel to the UK, which could jeopardize the match. Currently, the match is still scheduled to take place and FTR are still the AEW World Tag Team Champions. It is uncertain whether the incident will be addressed on-air during the upcoming episodes of AEW Rampage and AEW Collision, which are planned for Friday and Saturday, respectively.

This is not the first time an AEW star has faced legal issues. Last year, Jeff Hardy was arrested for a DUI and was off TV for an extended period of time as a consequence. Hardy made his return to AEW in April.
