Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), an Emmy winner, has been added to the cast of the destination wedding comedy, completing the quartet for The Fabulous Four. Joining Ralph are Timothy V. Murphy (Appaloosa) and Bruce Greenwood (The Fall of the House of Usher). The cast already includes Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, and Megan Mullally. Filming has commenced in Georgia under the SAG Interim Agreement, which the film was granted due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
The film, written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse (The Dressmaker), is described as a feel-good comedy. It revolves around three lifelong friends (portrayed by Sarandon, Mullally, and Ralph) who journey to Key West, Florida to be bridesmaids at the surprise wedding of their college friend Marilyn (played by Midler). This momentous occasion brings the friends back together, rekindling their sisterhood and confronting their past. Amidst the festivities, unexpected sparks, drinks, and romance transform their lives in unforeseen ways.

Although Ralph is a familiar face to younger audiences thanks to her role as the polite teacher Barbara in Abbott Elementary, she has actually been active in the entertainment industry since the 1970s. Throughout the years, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the comedy genre, delivering remarkable performances and receiving noteworthy accolades.

Ralph made history by becoming the first black actress in 35 years to win an Emmy Award for Best Outstanding Actress for her role in Abbott Elementary. Her breakthrough in the industry occurred in 1982 on Broadway, where she received a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her outstanding performance in Dreamgirls. She has also delivered notable performances in films such as Mistress, alongside Robert de Niro, To Sleep with Anger, starring opposite Danny Glover, and The Distinguished Gentlemen, alongside Eddie Murphy. Additionally, she showcased her talent in Sister Act 2, among other noteworthy projects. Ralph's recent film credits include The Young Wife and Christmas in My Heart.
