Sharna Burgess is candidly discussing her struggle with mom guilt.
On Tuesday, October 3, the 38-year-old former Dancing with the Stars pro turned to social media to share her emotions about leaving her son behind as she embarked on a tropical vacation. Sharing a photo of her suitcase at the airport on her Instagram Story, she added a text overlay that said: "Unlocked a new emotional experience."
"I'm embarking on a long-awaited girls trip to Cabo that we've been planning for over a year," she stated. "Unfortunately, the timing is not ideal."
Burgess is a mother to her two-year-old son, Zane, whom she shares with her fiancé, Brian Austin Green. She mentioned that although her toddler is recovering well from Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease, the feeling of guilt as a mother for leaving him is overwhelming.
"I was initially contemplating canceling, but Bri eloquently reminded me that I require and am deserving of these few days," she expressed. "I feel incredibly fortunate to have a supportive and understanding partner, who not only sees and acknowledges my needs, but also ensures that everything at home – the children, household affairs, and daily routine – continues smoothly even in my absence."
She concluded with assurance, stating, "Everyone is doing well. I am alright... to some extent. And I intend to make the most of this enjoyable experience."

In December 2020, Burgess was initially seen with the 50-year-old alum from Beverly Hills, 90210. They later partnered up to dance on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. Speaking exclusively to We in 2021, Burgess described their involvement on the show as a "disadvantage," highlighting the importance of being sensitive to each other's feelings.
The couple welcomed their first child together in June 2022, making it Green's fifth child. Burgess later announced their engagement in September after three years of dating. (Green has a son named Kassius, 21, from his previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil, and three sons named Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 7, from his marriage to Megan Fox.)
While Burgess and Green are now on the path to forever, the professional dancer has always prioritized having children. In September, she exclusively revealed to Us that it would have been a deal breaker for her if Green didn't want to have more children.
"When it came to discussing children, I made it clear to Bri from the beginning that if he didn't want more kids, we couldn't pursue a relationship. He already had a wonderful and complete family, so I needed to know if we were on the same page for the future."
Burgess added, "We had that conversation early on when we started dating, and he reassured me that he was open to the idea. That made me believe that our connection could last forever. I never anticipated that it wouldn't work out."
