Heather Langenkamp, star of A Nightmare on Elm Street, discusses her experience working with Johnny Depp on the film. Langenkamp reveals her uncertainty about his enjoyment of acting. Directed by horror master Wes Craven and released in 1984, A Nightmare on Elm Street follows a group of teenagers targeted by a terrifying killer who can murder them in their dreams. Langenkamp portrays Nancy in the film, while Depp plays her boyfriend, Glen. During a recent interview with Michael Rosenbaum on his Inside of You podcast, Langenkamp reflects on her time working with Depp on A Nightmare on Elm Street.
According to the actor, Depp didn't seem particularly affectionate toward the role or acting in general. Check out Langenkamp's full comment below:
It was difficult to gauge his true feelings towards acting as he appeared to be somewhat tormented by it, feeling the weight of the pressure involved. His dedication to the role of Glen was evident as he put in a significant amount of effort. It was hard to discern if he was enjoying himself because he always remained focused and serious. While the rest of us joked around and cracked smiles, he seemed rather stoic.
Given his musical background as a guitarist in a band, I assumed he would eventually return to that path. I didn't think acting would fully fulfill or satisfy him. After all, if you possess great talent as a musician, it's unlikely that you would abandon it completely for acting.
How A Nightmare On Elm Street Launched Johnny Depp's Career
Despite recent controversies, Depp remains a renowned Hollywood actor who has captivated audiences with his performances in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the Fantastic Beasts franchise, numerous collaborations with Tim Burton, and various other projects spanning nearly four decades.

Alongside his work with Burton, Depp also starred in renowned movies like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. While Langenkamp may have initially been uncertain about Depp's acting abilities during the filming of A Nightmare on Elm Street, it is clear that sticking with acting was the best choice for him.
