Scream enthusiasts speculate on return of original star for Thanksgiving

Scream 7 dominates social media with exciting filming updates, sparking fan frenzy over the possible return of Patrick Dempsey from Eli Roth's Thanksgiving

Although the spooky season has come to an end, Eli Roth's Thanksgiving movie is generating buzz as an exciting new addition to the horror genre. Additionally, Scream fans are eagerly anticipating the possibility of Patrick Dempsey returning for Scream 7.

Taking a unique twist, Thanksgiving will no longer feature a turkey as the centerpiece of the holiday. Instead, the 2023 slasher horror film was inspired by a fake trailer created by Roth for the 2007 movie Grindhouse. The storyline revolves around John Carver, a serial killer, who sets his sights on a small town and plans to turn its inhabitants into a horrifying holiday feast.

Horror fans are eagerly anticipating the movie and also have elevated expectations for another reason. Following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, there is an increased desire for information about Scream 7 and the cast members making a comeback. Neve Campbell is strongly considered for reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, while Scream 3 actor Patrick Dempsey is also a potential candidate due to his upcoming role in Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving could bring back Patrick Dempsey to Scream 7

Scream 7 will be directed by Spyhouse Media Group, the production company responsible for Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. In Roth's upcoming slasher horror film set to release in 2023, Dempsey will have a prominent role. Additionally, Dempsey has previously portrayed the character of detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3.

On X/Twitter, Tristan posted the possibility that Dempsey’s role in Thanksgiving could lead to his return as Kincaid.

According to a tweet, Spyglass Media Group, the production company responsible for SCREAM, is now working on a horror film called THANKSGIVING, with Patrick Dempsey as the lead. Sources suggest that due to Dempsey's new partnership with Spyglass, he may potentially reprise his role as Mark Kincaid in SCREAM 7. In the past, Kincaid played the role of the lead detective in Hollywood, urging Gale Weathers and Sidney to confront their past and assist in catching a new killer wearing a Ghostface mask. Initially, many presumed Kincaid to be the culprit in Scream 3 until it was revealed that the killer was Sidney's half-brother.

In celebration of Thanksgiving, Dempsey will portray the sheriff of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Although his character witnessed the unfortunate events of Black Friday, he remains optimistic and even refers to the holiday as an esteemed tradition within the town.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Spyhouse's decision to bring Dempsey back for Scream 7, with one expressing their excitement, "Yes! It's looking promising!"

Another fan was pleasantly surprised to discover the similarities between Dempsey's character in Thanksgiving and Scream 3. They exclaimed, "Omg, it didn't even cross my mind! I've only seen him as a cop, so this feels like a playful nod to Mark, who is also a cop lol."

Dempsey's return is not unlikely. In Scream 3, Kincaid manages to survive the encounter with Ghostface, just like the rest of the characters. For more news on Dexerto TV & Movies, click here, and for information about Scream 7, click here.

As a Scream enthusiast, I am thrilled by the possibility of Patrick Dempsey returning to the franchise in Scream 7. His role as Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3 was well-received by fans, and his return would bring a sense of continuity to the series. Additionally, Dempsey's recent role in Eli Roth's Thanksgiving suggests that he is still interested in the horror genre and would be a great fit for Scream 7.

The idea that Dempsey's character in Thanksgiving, the sheriff of Plymouth, Massachusetts, could be a nod to his role as a cop in Scream 3 is an exciting prospect. It would be a fun way to connect the two films and give fans a sense of familiarity. Overall, I believe that Dempsey's return to the Scream franchise would be a positive move and would be well-received by fans.
