Scream 7 may feature the triumphant comeback of a beloved McDreamy actor

Scream 7 brings an exciting twist as a beloved McDreamy actor potentially faces off against the iconic Ghostface in the highly anticipated horror franchise, amidst major casting developments

There are rumors that Scream 7, the upcoming installment in the popular horror franchise, could potentially feature the return of a specific actor following some changes in the cast. The well-known Scream series has faced some challenges lately due to significant casting changes.

With Melissa Barrera being fired for her social media posts in support of Palestine, and Jenna Ortega stepping out due to scheduling conflicts, the next installment of the Scream franchise is now seeking out an alumni from the previous films to move forward with production.

McDreamy may be going toe to toe with Ghostface

As reiterated, Ortega will not be reprising his role in Scream 7 because he is committed to filming Wednesday Season 2, a choice that Spyglass, the studio producing Scream, attributed to the actors' strike.

Variety reported that although the production team had hoped to convince the actress to make a cameo appearance, her departure has been officially announced, making Ortega's return unlikely. Additionally, with Barrera's removal, the franchise will require a new character to confront the iconic masked killer, potentially someone like Grey's Anatomy alum Patrick Dempsey.

Dempsey made his debut in the series as Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3, where he was tasked with probing the Stab 3 killings. Throughout the investigation, he developed romantic feelings for Sidney Prescott, the protagonist of the movies, and the two later tied the knot.

Ever since his appearance in Scream 3, Dempsey's character has been absent from the screen but was referenced in Scream VI as being in hiding alongside Sidney. The idea of Sidney's husband returning to combat the longstanding threat would not be far-fetched and would be a logical narrative choice as he could be the one to protect his family from Ghostface.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about the potential return of Patrick Dempsey as Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 7. His character was a fan favorite in Scream 3, and his absence in subsequent films has been felt.

Dempsey's return would bring a sense of nostalgia to the franchise and would provide a much-needed connection to the earlier films. Additionally, his character's relationship with Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) could be further explored, adding depth and drama to the story.
