Scarlett Johansson: Reviving Black Widow Would Require a Marvel Miracle

Scarlett Johansson suggests a potential return of Black Widow is highly unlikely, mentioning a Marvel miracle as the only hope for Natasha Romanoff's comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Scarlett Johansson, who played Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has addressed speculation about her character's potential return in future projects. According to her, it would require a "Marvel miracle" for Natasha Romanoff to make a comeback. The MCU has become a significant fictional universe over the last decade, comprising over 20 films, numerous TV shows, and featuring renowned actors portraying iconic superheroes.

In typical cinematic franchise fashion, certain adored characters have bid farewell to the universe, meeting their demise across multiple films. Among these is Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, who had been a significant presence in the MCU since her debut in Iron Man 2.

The heart-wrenching conclusion of Avengers: Endgame marked the tragic end of Black Widow's journey, leaving devoted fans grieving the loss. Following this, Johansson made a remarkable return in the standalone film Black Widow, but has not appeared in any other MCU ventures thereafter.

Despite rumors circulating online, it is being said that Johansson might reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff with the concept of the Multiverse being at the forefront of this next phase.

During a recent interview with The Today Show, Johansson was questioned about the validity of these theories, swiftly dismissing the notion of reprising her role as Black Widow in the MCU.

When initially queried about the possibility of her return as Black Widow, Johansson humorously quipped, "Is it going to be like a zombie film?" She further explained that the demise of her character in Avengers: Endgame was indeed the definitive fate.

"Wasn't that the end? I'm not sure how one can recover from that." Despite this, Johansson did not completely dismiss the possibility, suggesting that it would be a remarkable occurrence for Black Widow to make a comeback in the MCU. Due to Marvel's stringent policy on avoiding spoilers and hints about upcoming ventures, it remains uncertain if Black Widow will reappear in the future. Nevertheless, we will ensure to keep you informed about all the latest updates regarding the MCU.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I grew up watching Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character was one of the strongest and most inspiring female superheroes, and her death in Avengers: Endgame was a devastating moment for many fans.

I understand that the MCU is a vast and ever-evolving universe, and that characters can sometimes be brought back from the dead. However, I believe that Black Widow's death should be permanent. Her sacrifice was a powerful and meaningful moment, and it would cheapen her character to bring her back.

I would much rather see the MCU focus on developing new and exciting characters, rather than rehashing old storylines. There are so many great comic book characters out there who have yet to be introduced to the big screen, and I believe that Marvel should focus on bringing them to life.
