Saw X Is a Throwback to the Early Days of the Franchise
- "Donate blood and save lives"The Saw X promotional team intentionally brings back the Saw Blood Drive as a nostalgic nod to the franchise's roots. This latest installment serves as a return to form, getting the series back on track after recent installments veered in a different direction. While the storyline had to be retconned to fit as a prequel, the most significant aspect of this throwback is the cast of Saw X. Tobin Bell reprises his role as Jigsaw, alongside Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young, two iconic characters who met their demise in Saw III.
In homage to the beloved characters of this iconic franchise, who have primarily appeared in flashbacks since Saw III's release in 2006, various aspects of the promotional campaign have been designed to evoke the earlier years of the Saw series. This is evident in the posters for Saw X, which, like the newly created Blood Drive designs, incorporate the familiar white backdrop seen in the posters from 2004's Saw all the way to 2010's Saw: The Final Chapter. This return to the iconic white background comes after both Jigsaw and Spiral opted for darker color schemes in their primary poster designs.
Additionally, the Saw X trailer unveils the exciting revival of other iconic franchise elements. Among these are the pig mask worn by Amanda and the Billy puppet, known for delivering Jigsaw's intimidating messages. While it remains uncertain if Saw X will be able to recapture the original audience's love for the early films, the creators are going to great lengths to remind viewers that they are resurrecting as much cherished material as possible from the franchise's original heyday.
