Sand Land: The Series is an anime adaptation based on Akira Toriyama's short manga series, Sand Land. Originally published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga was serialized from May to August 2000.

The first six episodes of Sand Land: The Series are known as the Prince of Demons arc, or Akuma no Oji-hen in Japanese. This arc will include scenes from the anime movie, re-edited into episodic form, along with some extra footage.
The remaining episodes (7-13) will introduce a new arc called Angelic Heroes, or Tenshi no Yusha in Japanese. This storyline takes place in a location called Forest Land, which was created by Akira Toriyama himself. To mark the announcement, the author has also shared a special illustration he drew.

New cast members have been announced for Sand Land: The Series. Mikako Komatsu, known for her role as Maki Zen'in in Jujutsu Kaisen, will be starring as Anne. Anne is a girl from the Frest Land who joins Beelzebub and his friends on their adventure.
Joining Mikako-san is Ayumu Murase, who will be playing the role of Muniel in the upcoming anime. Muniel is an angel from heaven who sees himself as a hero in the Forest Land. Along with them, the series will also feature familiar faces from the anime film among the cast and staff members.
Mutsumi Tamura will be back as Beelzebub, and Kazuhito Yamaji is set to return as Rao. Also returning are Cho as Thief, Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are, and Nobuo Tobita as General Zau.

Toshihisa Yokoshima is directing the anime, with Hiroshi Kojina serving as the direction adviser. The anime's scripts are being written by Hayashi Mori, and the sound is being directed by Yoshikazu Iwanami. Yugo Kanno is also returning to compose the series' music.
Sand Land: The Series is based on Akira Toriyama's manga about a desolate world ruled by a king who controls the water supply. Sheriff Rao seeks out a mysterious lake, enlisting the king of demons for assistance.
The Sheriff is joined by Beelzebub, the king's son, and the Thief, as they set off on a thrilling journey through the desert, encountering dangerous enemies along the way.
