Samsung Galaxy Phones Now Offer Temporary Cloud Backups

With increasing storage capacities in our smartphones, more and more of our personal data is being stored in them. It has become common to find phones with 512GB or even 1TB of storage. However, in the event of a disaster or when sending the phone for a trade-in, a significant amount of data can be lost. To address this issue, Samsung has introduced a new feature called "temporary cloud backups" for its smartphones. This feature allows users to easily back up and store their desired content in the cloud for up to 30 days, ensuring that it can be restored when needed. What sets this feature apart is that there are no limitations on the amount of data that can be backed up. So, even if your 1TB phone is completely filled, you can save all of the content.

You can save files totaling over 100GB in the cloud, but each individual file cannot exceed 100GB. Additionally, backups have a 30-day expiration period. Unlike regular cloud storage services, such as Google Drive/Google One, which allow permanent file saving with no expiration date, this service enables unlimited phone backup but with expiration.

This feature will be available for all Samsung smartphones that receive One UI 6, based on Android 14, currently undergoing beta testing. If your phone is eligible for the update, you will have to wait a few weeks or months (depending on your specific phone) for the feature to be released.
