One of the most well-known and dramatic relationships in reality TV history has finally seen some new developments.
Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, who had a rollercoaster relationship during the original Jersey Shore series, reunited after almost ten years on the recent episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
Ronnie, 38, mentioned in a confessional that he knows he will have to see Sam. They haven't seen each other in seven years and there was no closure between them, making the situation a bit awkward. Ronnie hopes it won't be awkward when they finally meet.
Sammi, 37, and Ronnie started dating during the first season of Jersey Shore in 2009. Despite their efforts to make things work, they ended their relationship for good in 2014.
Sammi shared in her pre-trip confessional that she is feeling like a ball of emotions. She admitted that she is not excited about spending time with someone who has been absent in her life. Sammi expressed a desire to figure things out so that everyone can have a good time, coexist, and get along together.
Before the big reunion, Ronnie hung out with Vinny Guadagnino and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. During this time, Ronnie opened up about his concerns and hesitations about seeing Sammi again.

Ronnie shared with Vinny and Mike that he was feeling a bit nervous about seeing Sam. They had a long history together and the last time they spoke, it was clear that their relationship was over. Ronnie mentioned that he has grown and matured since then, and he hopes to have a conversation with Sam, although he is unsure of how it will go.
On the other hand, Sammi was not as hopeful about being around Ronnie. She expressed a desire for them to be able to "coexist," but she also hinted that this might be the extent of their interaction.
She said definitively, “Sam and Ron is from the past.”
Once the duo were finally in the same room together, things got predictably awkward very quickly.
Sammi expressed feeling tension among the group, mentioning in a confessional that everyone seemed on edge. She admitted to feeling quiet and anxious, unsure of where to direct her attention. In her mind, she just wanted to leave the situation.
The tense atmosphere was not only felt by Sammi but also by the entire cast. Vinny, who is 36 years old, described it as the most awkward and significant moment in the history of Jersey Shore.
Jenni “JWoww” Farley compared Sammi and Ronnie to a divorced couple who have to go on a holiday together for the sake of their kids, even though they can't stand each other.
Luckily, Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio stepped in to help out by organizing a dinner for the entire group, complete with a Hot Ones–style eating competition.
In a confessional, Pauly, 43, shared, “Things were a bit tense at the beginning, but now everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I just want to keep everyone focused on having a good time and forget about the drama.”
The distraction was short-lived.
Vinny brought up The Note at the table, referring to the infamous anonymous letter written by JWoww and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi to inform Sammi that Ronnie was cheating on her. This mention caused any progress that was being made to come to a halt and go backwards.
Mike, who is 41 years old, pointed out that it's best not to make jokes about The Note when Ron and Sam are together at the same table for the first time.
As tensions reached a breaking point, Sammi gave a foreboding warning to end the episode.
"I have been handling the Ron situation calmly," she shared in a confessional. "But now, it's starting to really get to me and I feel like I'm reaching my breaking point."
