Salah Saga: Liverpool Star's Future Hangs in the Balance as Al Ittihad Prepares Record-Breaking Bid

Liverpool rejects £150m bid for Mohamed Salah from Al Ittihad; speculation persists on future transfer attempts; Salah's 2-year contract to be assessed; January or summer bids expected; uncertain future for Liverpool star at Anfield

Liverpool had been prepared for a potentially record-breaking offer for Mohamed Salah on Thursday. However, both the club and their fans can now relax as no improved bid from Al Ittihad materialized before the Saudi Pro League transfer window closed. Despite rejecting a £150m offer on Deadline Day, there was speculation that Al Ittihad would make another attempt to sign the Egyptian forward within the remaining six days of the Saudi window.

Liverpool have consistently stated that Salah is not available for transfer. However, their determination is expected to be challenged once again in January or the following summer, as the Saudi club remains adamant about pursuing their desired agreement. It is plausible that, eventually, an offer that is too enticing to reject may be presented.

"On the day of the deadline, we were informed that Al Ittihad might increase their bid and present a modified offer. However, this offer has not materialized as of yet."

The Saudi Pro League is keen on maintaining respect towards Liverpool, thus avoiding the irritation caused by repeatedly submitting bids. Consequently, it appears that they will refrain from further pursuit, at least for now. However, it's important to note that Al Ittihad has been informed that Mo Salah will not be sold during this transfer window, which has been consistently reiterated.

The water was tested last week and they received that response.

There is a strong possibility that they will seek to finalize a deal for Mo Salah in January and beyond. Al Ittihad remains determined to sign Mo Salah, without giving up. Ultimately, they have not excluded the option of presenting an improved offer in the future.

"They firmly believe that there is still a potential deal awaiting them.

"Keep in mind, Al Ittihad remains eager to offer Salah a staggering weekly salary of £1.5m, thereby elevating him to the position of the highest-earning player in Saudi football. Consequently, as time passes, the allure of a sale to Liverpool becomes increasingly appealing."

Looking ahead to the summer, it could be seen as a smart business move to invest £100m in a player who is in his early 30s and entering the final year of his contract.

Currently, Liverpool strongly believes that this player is crucial to their team, which is why they made extensive efforts to secure him with a new contract. He receives a weekly salary of £350,000, making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool's history. Furthermore, he continues to excel as one of the top performers in the Premier League.

What's next?

Liverpool's first match following the international break is scheduled against Wolves on Saturday September 16, commencing at 12.30pm. Consequently, as time progresses, the likelihood of an enhanced proposal emerging from Saudi Arabia will also increase.
