A politician affiliated with Russian President Vladimir Putin's party was discovered dead in the courtyard of his home, according to local media reports on Thursday. This adds to the increasing number of Russian elites who have passed away in uncertain circumstances in recent months.
Vladimir Egorov, a Deputy of the Tobolsk City Duma from the ruling United Russia party, was reportedly 46 years old at the time of his death. The news was reported by Russian newspaper Kommersant, citing the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Tyumen Region in Russia.
Investigators informed Kommersant that there were no evident signs of criminal death on Egorov's body. The committee could not confirm the details surrounding the deputy's death as they are still in the process of conducting an autopsy. According to Russian state media TASS, Egorov was found dead in Tobolsk, as reported by the regional committee. Additionally, an unofficial Telegram channel called Baza, which has connections to Russian security services, stated that Egorov's body was found in the courtyard of his house on Kedrovaya Street on Wednesday.
Investigators are still determining the reasons behind Egorov's death, as reported by Kommersant and TASS. The Tobolsk City Duma posted an obituary on its social media page, attributing Egorov's demise to an accident. The Duma acknowledged Egorov's contributions as their deputy chairman, citing his extensive support for the participants of the Special Military Operation and the families of military personnel in Ukraine, as well as his active involvement in the city's social and political affairs.
He becomes part of a group of notable Russians who have passed away from suicide or in mysterious incidents in the recent months and years, including several businessmen with connections to Russia's two biggest energy companies.
