House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner stated on Sunday that ****Russian propaganda has made its way into Congress. He mentioned that some of his Republican colleagues have repeated false claims on the chamber’s floor.
Turner emphasized, “It is indeed true that we have observed attempts from Russia to disguise communications that are against Ukraine and in favor of Russia. Some of these messages have even been heard being spoken on the House floor,” the Ohio Republican informed CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”
Turner’s comments come after House Foreign Affairs chair Michael McCaul’s told Puck News last week that ****Russian propaganda has “infected a good chunk” of the GOP base.

Turner, a strong supporter of providing more help to Ukraine, mentioned on Sunday that some members of Congress are mistaken in thinking that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is about NATO, when it is not. He emphasized that this misconception makes it harder for us to see the true nature of the battle as one between authoritarianism and democracy.
The Senate approved a $95.3 billion foreign aid bill in February, which included support for Ukraine and Israel. However, House Speaker Mike Johnson, whose leadership future is uncertain due to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's attempt to remove him from his position, did not immediately schedule a vote on the bill.
Turner mentioned on Sunday that he does not think Johnson is in danger of being ousted by the "chaos caucus." He highlighted that some members are causing disruptions and seeking attention for themselves, hindering the important work in Congress.
Editor's P/S:
The infiltration of ****Russian propaganda into Congress is deeply concerning and undermines the integrity of our democratic institutions. It is alarming that elected officials are repeating false claims that align with Russian narratives, potentially jeopardizing the United States' support for Ukraine. The spread of misinformation and manipulation by foreign actors poses a serious threat to national security and public discourse.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner's statements highlight the urgent need to address this issue. However, House Speaker Mike Johnson's apparent reluctance to schedule a vote on the foreign aid bill, which includes support for Ukraine, raises questions about his commitment to countering ****Russian propaganda and supporting the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom. The ongoing leadership challenges within the GOP further impede efforts to combat foreign influence and ensure the integrity of our political system.
