On Saturday, October 14, Prince William and Prince George journeyed to France to show their support for Wales in the Rugby World Cup.
In Marseille's Stade Velodrome, both the 41-year-old Prince of Wales and his 10-year-old eldest son donned matching navy suits with red ties, expressing their solidarity with the Welsh team. While William went for a white shirt, his son chose a light blue button-down. Regrettably, their father-son excursion did not culminate in a triumph.
"Sorry to hear that it didn't work out this year, @WelshRugbyUnion. Nonetheless, you can be proud of all your accomplishments, and I'm confident that you'll bounce back stronger. Hats off to @LosPumas, wishing you the best of luck. W."
William, a patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, is a strong advocate for children participating in team sports, stressing the importance of teaching them how to handle both success and failure. Last month, he openly shared his belief that athletics contribute to their ability to cope with setbacks, wishing to ensure that his and Princess Kate's three children are equipped with the necessary skills to deal with disappointment when they do not emerge victorious.
"The focus nowadays should be on fostering camaraderie, building relationships, and learning how to handle losses. I believe many people struggle with accepting defeat gracefully," he expressed during his conversation on the "The Good, The Bad & The Rugby" podcast with Kate, 41, and Princess Anne. "When it comes to our children, I want to ensure they comprehend this concept. It is crucial for them to learn the importance of understanding and growing from losses at a young age."
Kate, who has three children with William - George, Princess Charlotte, aged 8, and Prince Louis, aged 5 - emphasized the importance of teaching their kids to win graciously, without boasting or appearing arrogant.
According to a source featured in our exclusive September cover story, the couple, who got married in 2011, prioritize the upbringing of their children with family always taking precedence.
William and Kate are committed to providing their three children with a conventional childhood by emphasizing the importance of performing ordinary tasks such as dog-walking and dishwashing. According to an insider, the family organizes regular movie nights where each family member takes turns selecting a film. Additionally, both parents have a profound admiration for one another, with William openly acknowledging that he couldn't fulfill his parenting duties without Kate, and she reciprocates the sentiment.
