After McIlroy, 35, filed for divorce from wife Erica Stoll, rumors swirled that he had moved on with Balionis, 38. Neither McIlroy nor Balionis have publicly addressed the speculation. (Balionis married football coach Bryn Renner in 2022 but it is unclear if they have separated.)

Balionis, who has been covering golf for many years, recently had an interview with McIlroy on May 12 right after he won the Wells Fargo Championship.

During the interview, McIlroy expressed his excitement about the win, saying, “This was just another great day to add to all the rest of them.” He also mentioned how he feels that the fans have watched him grow up, from winning at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte as a 20-year-old to now being 35 years old. McIlroy shared that he feels lucky to have won at this course four times, showing his progression throughout his career.

Rory McIlroy's communications team has confirmed that a divorce has been filed, as reported by his representative to the Irish Star on May 14. They emphasized Rory's wish for the process to be respectful and amicable during this challenging time. He has chosen not to provide any additional statements.
