Although he typically wouldn't discuss this publicly, he decided to speak out so that others facing similar challenges would know they are not alone.
The star of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia plans to discuss his complete diagnosis and prognosis on his podcast, "The Always Sunny," later this month. McElhenney wants his fans to know that they can count on him for support, emphasizing that they are not dumb or bad, even though they may feel that way sometimes. Meanwhile, he and his wife Kaitlin Olson are finding humor in life and debunking rumors of their separation.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, recently responded on July 3 to a Perez Hilton article about their marriage, which cited the gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi.
According to a recent DeuxMoi post titled "Not Always Sunny," it has been revealed that two married actors from a beloved and long-standing sitcom have discreetly separated following the husband's infidelity in Wales.
While several readers speculated that the blind item was referring to McElhenney and Olson, both of whom have been co-starring on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia since 2005, Olson had a clever response to the accusations. Taking to Twitter, the Champions actress, who has two sons, Axel (12) and Leo (11), with McElhenney, jokingly stated, "I was the one who had the affair. However, it was not with a person from Wales. It was actually with a whale. I have always had a fondness for whales, as they are the rulers of the ocean, and I am drawn to power. We kindly request privacy as we navigate through this challenging period."
McElhenney, the co-owner of Wales' soccer club Wrexham A.F.C. alongside Ryan Reynolds, responded to his wife's unconventional remark with an equally peculiar comment.
