Arnold Schwarzenegger is opening up about Rob Lowe ghosting him following his split from Maria Shriver.
In a preview of his upcoming interview on Lowe's "Literally!" podcast, Schwarzenegger, 76, expressed, "Let it be known that ever since I divorced Maria, you haven't been around much." Lowe, 59, playfully replied, "I guess she won custody of our friendship."
Schwarzenegger and Shriver, both 67, ended their 25-year marriage in 2011 following Schwarzenegger's affair with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena, which led to the birth of their son Joseph, now 26. They finalized their divorce ten years later. Schwarzenegger also mentioned that Lowe wanted to demonstrate his loyalty to Shriver rather than him, and highlighted that despite not having those same loyalties, they always had friends who remained impartial. However, Lowe did get involved in the situation.
Schwarzenegger hinted that despite Lowe's suggestion to meet up for cigars, it had been years since they last saw each other.
"Putting jokes aside, I must admit that I've missed you. Why? Well, because you and I had so much in common, so many wild experiences together," Schwarzenegger expressed. "You used to visit my house frequently and all those moments are what I truly long for. Perhaps one day, you'll realize that you can hang out with Arnold again without the fear of Maria getting angry."
Despite being far removed from the scandal, Schwarzenegger's infidelity controversy has resurfaced in the media once more, thanks to the debut of his three-part docuseries, Arnold, on Netflix in June. During a couples therapy session, Schwarzenegger revealed to his then-partner that he is indeed the father of Joseph, in response to her questioning the child's paternity.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rob Lowe, both pictured by Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images, discussed a heart-wrenching experience involving someone unnamed. Reflecting on the situation, one of them expressed how their distress intensified with the passing of time, leading to a pressing dilemma of how to maintain confidentiality and concealment.
Despite referring to the affair as a "significant failure" and acknowledging the negative impact it had on his family, Schwarzenegger expressed his pride in being Joseph's father. He acknowledged that his actions were wrong but emphasized that Joseph is wholeheartedly accepted in the world. Schwarzenegger professed his love for Joseph and praised him for becoming an exceptional young man.
After the release of the documentary series, a reliable source informed us that Shrive had no intention of publicly responding to her ex-husband's docuseries. The insider revealed that Maria wants to leave the past behind and focus on the challenges she faced in her marriage. She is currently in a positive place with Arnold and their shared priority is their children.
