Roadhog Receives Exciting New Ability in Overwatch 2 Rework

Roadhog's latest rework in Overwatch 2 introduces the game-changing Pig Pen ability This innovative trap not only expertly slows down adversaries but also inflicts significant damage upon them, amplifying Roadhog's prowess on the battlefield

Roadhog, the latest hero in Overwatch 2, has undergone a significant rework that will change how players approach using the hook-focused tank.

In a recent livestream, it was revealed that almost every aspect of Roadhog, with the exception of his hook, has been altered. The secondary fire ability of his primary weapon, Scrap Gun, will no longer be available. Additionally, the number of pellets fired by the primary fire of the Scrap Gun will be reduced, but each pellet will now inflict more damage. Furthermore, enemies caught in the center of the shot will be subjected to increased damage. Overall, these modifications result in a higher potential for damage from a single shot, making Roadhog an even more formidable foe for those capable of effectively landing their Scrap Gun blasts.

Roadhog's healing ability, Take A Breather, has undergone a significant revamp. Instead of being limited to a cooldown period, Take A Breather now utilizes a resource meter. This meter remains active as long as the assigned hotkey is held or until the resource is depleted. Moreover, the ability no longer enhances healing after usage and its damage reduction effectiveness has been reduced from 50% to 30%. It takes a duration of 12 seconds for the ability's resource meter to replenish from empty to full capacity.

The most notable alteration is the introduction of a brand-new ability, Pig Pen. Similar to Junk Rat's trap ability, the Pig Pen acts as a trap that can be tactically placed on the ground. When enemies come into contact with it, instead of immobilizing them, it causes them to experience a significant movement speed reduction of 40%. Additionally, it inflicts damage to enemies within its impact area and continues to deal damage over time for three seconds after it is initiated. The Pig Pen ability has a cooldown period of 12 seconds.

Roadhog's revised game strategy focuses on utilizing his Pig Pen trap to hook and punish enemies who are out of position, thus enabling his team to secure kills. The rework for Roadhog will be implemented on November 14, along with the release of comprehensive patch notes.

Joining the ranks of heroes receiving revamps in Season 7 of Overwatch 2, Roadhog follows Sombra, who underwent significant alterations on October 10. This revamp coincided with the introduction of a Diablo-themed event mode.

Blizzard unveiled Mauga, the latest hero in Overwatch 2, who wields dual gatling guns, during BlizzCon 2023. Mauga will join the game as part of Overwatch 2's upcoming Season 8. Players had the opportunity to experience Mauga firsthand for a limited weekend period after the announcement.

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about Roadhog's rework in Overwatch 2. The new Pig Pen ability adds an exciting new layer to his gameplay, allowing him to trap and damage enemies in a way that was not possible before. This will make him a more versatile and dangerous tank, and I can't wait to try out the new strategies that this rework will enable.

Overall, I think the Roadhog rework is a positive change that will make him a more viable and exciting hero to play. The new Pig Pen ability is a great addition to his kit, and the changes to his other abilities will make him more consistent and reliable. I can't wait to see how he performs in the new season.
