Rick C-137, the primary antagonist who has been relentlessly pursued, meets his demise in Season 7 Episode 5. Despite the significance of this event, Harmon remains unperturbed about the fate of Rick and Morty.

In a recent Variety interview, the creator highlighted the significance of bidding farewell to a major antagonist while acknowledging the potential impact on the future storyline. As per the creator, "I think there’s still a conclusion to a story here because the narcissist will tell you that destroying yourself, it doesn’t solve a problem."

The showrunner, Scott Marder, stated that Rick's loss of purpose provides the writing team with ample material to utilize. Marder posed the question of what happens to a character like Braveheart who has achieved vengeance for his deceased wife and survived. He wonders where the narrative goes when that is the only defining aspect of the character.

Harmon reassured fans that Rick Prime’s death does not spell the end for Rick and Morty. He emphasized that the show has no worries about exhausting its canonical credit card. Harmon further stated that if the show were to face destruction, it would have succumbed to numerous colossal challenges it has encountered, such as pandemics, writers' strikes, and other obstacles.

Furthermore, despite the absence of Rick Prime, there remains a concern over the presence of Evil Morty, in addition to the unexpected threat introduced in Season 7 Episode 6.
