RHOP’s Ashley Darby Encourages Captain Jason to Pursue Lala Kent
Ashley Darby encourages Captain Jason Chambers to pursue a romantic relationship with Lala Kent after their flirtatious interaction at BravoCon 2023 Despite her own interest, Ashley wants Jason and Lala to explore the potential for love
Captain Jason Chambers was undoubtedly the most eligible bachelor at BravoCon, and Ashley Darby eagerly wished for him to find a romantic connection.
"I was actually rooting for him and Lala [Kent]," Ashley, 35, revealed exclusively to We on Thursday, November 9, during a discussion about the ongoing season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. "Although I didn't see them together in person, I hope there was some chemistry. I encouraged him to pursue it."
Jason, who is 50 years old, had a conversation with Us at BravoCon on Saturday, November 4. He mentioned that he had a positive conversation with Lala, a star from Vanderpump Rules, as they bonded over both being single parents. Jason has a daughter named Saskia, who is 9 years old, with his ex-partner Fuchsia Quinn, while Lala shares a daughter named Ocean, who is 2 years old, with her ex-fiancé Randall Emmett.
During the three-day Las Vegas convention, Ashley not only supports the idea of a potential romantic connection between Jason and Lala, but she also attempted to get Jason's attention.
"Captain Jason is a close friend of mine. We recently enjoyed a wonderful time dancing together," Ashley shared with Us on Thursday. "He is an incredibly talented dancer, which I even showcased in my Instagram Reel. However, our interaction was purely innocent. We may have flirted a bit, but that was the extent of it."
In addition to Ashley and Lala, other Bravo stars, including Olivia Flowers from Southern Charm, Caroline Brooks from The Real Housewives of Dubai, and Sutton Stracke from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, also had the opportunity to meet Jason during BravoCon.
“I bumped into him and introduced myself. I must confess, I've been mentioning to a few people that I have a slight crush on you. But don't worry, there's no need to feel uncomfortable," Sutton, aged 52, disclosed in a separate conversation with Us on Thursday. "To my surprise, he responded gracefully, taking it in stride. He was genuinely kind and good-looking."
Ashley Boalch Darby, Captain Jason Chambers, and Lala Kent were all part of Bravo's lineup. However, Sutton discovered that Jason was highly sought after, with both Lindsay Hubbard from Summer House and Brynn Whitfield from The Real Housewives of New York City expressing interest. Additionally, Adriana de Moura from The Real Housewives of Miami claimed that she had previously been involved with him. Due to these revelations, Sutton decided to move on.
"After hearing a couple of stories, I quickly decided to remove Captain Jason from my list," Sutton remembered. "It seems that Captain Jason has a fondness for women."
Ashley, too, has moved on from her short-lived connection with Jason. She had previously ended her marriage with Michael Darby, with whom she shares two children, in April 2022. Later, at BravoCon 2022, she met Luke Gulbranson from Summer House and started a new relationship. However, they went their separate ways a few months later.
Ashley expressed on Thursday that dating has been a challenging experience for her, despite having enjoyed some casual relationships. She highlighted the significant changes in the dating landscape and mentioned her surprise at the inconsistent communication she has encountered with potential partners. She acknowledged that it has been 13 years since she was last single at the age of 22, emphasizing the stark differences she has noticed. Despite this, Ashley is eager to explore the new dating scene while balancing her commitments to filming season 8 of RHOP.
She excitedly exclaimed to Us about the numerous enjoyable trips and activities we experienced. "Our trip to Austin was an absolute blast," she expressed with delight. "Austin holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite cities. I've been fortunate enough to visit three times already, and each visit has been filled with amazing vibes. It was a great opportunity for the girls to try out some of the exhilarating activities in Austin and step out of their comfort zones, though some embraced it more than others."
Although the RHOP cast trip to Texas promises moments of lightheartedness within the Bravo franchise, it is inevitable that drama will unfold.
Robyn Dixon is feeling the pressure not only from us but also from outside sources," Ashley playfully shared with Us when discussing the upcoming episodes. This comment was made in response to allegations that Robyn, who is 44 years old, had been dishonest with her fellow cast members about the status of her marriage. "Robin faced intense scrutiny and harsh criticism from people who vilified her. I personally believe that the consequences were disproportionate to the offense committed. It felt like an excessive punishment."
