In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players have the freedom to customize their islands in any way they choose. Some may focus on beautifying their island to attract KK Slider, while others may prioritize completing Nook Miles activities. Many players also enjoy filling up the museum for Blathers, while others find satisfaction in designing interiors through the Happy Home Paradise DLC. However, for some players, the ultimate goal is to hunt for their dreamies - their most desired Villagers. This pursuit is no easy feat, as players must be selective about the Villagers they invite to their island due to the limited number of home slots available. Additionally, it can take months of effort to finally achieve an island full of dreamies. While a certain level of dedication is necessary, it would be beneficial for Nintendo to consider ways to make the process less laborious.
How Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Dreamie Hunts Can Be Improved
Improving the speed at which players move between mystery islands should be a top priority for Nintendo. While some quality-of-life changes, like a craft all button for items such as fishing bait, have been made, the slow movement between islands can be frustrating. Although this may have been due to the outdated technology of the Nintendo Switch, it can be a major inconvenience to watch the same scene repeatedly during island visits.
To address this issue, the next Animal Crossing game could allow players to take multiple Nook Miles Tickets with them, enabling them to visit multiple islands without returning home. By interacting with Wilbur, players could trade in a ticket and seamlessly move on to the next island, bypassing the flight animation. Alternatively, players could plan a flight course with Orville and use multiple tickets to visit a chain of randomized islands.
Players could potentially spend multiple Nook Miles Tickets in the next Animal Crossing game to increase the rarity of the Villagers featured on the next Island. Nintendo likely has access to data on the most sought-after Animal Crossing Villagers, which could be used to inform this feature. Since new Villagers are always in high demand due to their lack of amiibo cards, spending extra tickets to visit mystery islands could increase the likelihood of encountering them. Another possibility would be for players to spend additional tickets to access islands with multiple Villagers, with the quality of each island raised according to the number of tickets spent. This would give players a greater selection of Villagers to choose from, and increase the chances of finding a favorite dreamie.
There are certainly other possibilities for Nintendo to simplify the process of acquiring rare Villagers. For instance, they could introduce a trading platform similar to Nookazon, which would enable players to exchange Villagers with their friends. Additionally, players might be able to free up slots without having to wait for a Villager to request to leave. Nevertheless, mystery island hunts are a great deal of fun, and they could become even more enjoyable with a few clever modifications. It is hoped that Nintendo will take into account the many ways this beloved community activity could be enhanced while creating the next installment in the series. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
