Despite not being an original Animal Crossing NPC like Tom Nook or Kapp'n, Pascal has quickly become a fan-favorite due to his playful nature and occasional appearances in bodies of water on the island. His inclusion in the Nintendo Switch game with the free Summer update was well-received by long-time fans. In fact, Pascal fans can even collect a picture of him just like they can with other beloved characters such as Tom Nook, K.K. Slider, Pelly, Phyllis, Katie, and Kaitlin. But one observant New Horizons fan has noticed a unique detail about Pascal that sets him apart from other characters in the latest installment.

Reddit user Carolmanbat recently shared a clip from Animal Crossing: New Horizons where they followed Pascal to the boundary line of their island. Carolmanbat swam along with the red otter who was backstroking in the western part of the ocean before reaching the northern corner where Pascal stopped swimming. Pascal then started wrestling with a scallop, just like real-life otters do. He smacked the scallop on his stomach repeatedly before devouring it, with his eyes reflecting his joy just like a villager's eyes do when they eat fruit.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can encounter Pascal by buying a wetsuit from Nook's Cranny for 3,000 bells and swimming in the waters around their islands. When players dive for scallops in the ocean, Pascal will surface next to them and ask for the scallop, just like he did in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. While he offered ship-themed items in New Leaf, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pascal will give players Mermaid DIY projects, continuing his tradition of exchanging unique furniture for his favorite food.
