The patch notes for the 4.0 update of EA Sports PGA Tour have been released, addressing several bugs and enhancing the overall gameplay experience for golf enthusiasts. This update, which arrives two months after the official launch of EA Sports PGA Tour, aims to resolve issues and implement desired quality-of-life improvements as requested by the community.

EA Sports PGA Tour marks the return of this renowned sports game franchise after an eight-year hiatus, rejuvenating its presence in the gaming industry. In comparison to previous installments such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour and the more recent Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, this latest edition of EA Sports PGA Tour introduces a host of exciting features and gameplay enhancements. With a lineup of over 30 unique courses, including iconic locations like Augusta National and the Old Course at St Andrews Links, as well as two fantasy courses, players can indulge in a diverse golfing experience. Furthermore, EA has announced that additional courses will be introduced to the game in the upcoming months, with one of them being included in the EA Sports PGA Tour 4.0 update.

The latest update 4.0 for EA Sports PGA Tour features a range of stability enhancements and gameplay improvements. In addition, players can now enjoy new weekly and seasonal content. This update also introduces the prestigious Los Angeles Country Club to all game modes, expanding the selection of courses available in EA Sports PGA Tour. Career mode now includes The U.S. Open Championship, which alternates between The Los Angeles Country Club and The Country Club every season. Moreover, players can participate in new challenges during the U.S. Open Championship, allowing them to relive the most significant moments of this prestigious tournament.

In addition to addressing stability issues and introducing new weekly challenges, the latest update for EA Sports PGA Tour (version 4.0) includes several quality-of-life enhancements. Notably, the Swing Meter and Aiming Arc have been redesigned to provide clearer indications of the ball's trajectory. Furthermore, the update includes updated models for certain golfers to more accurately represent real-life professional players. This update also marks the introduction of women golfers to the EA Sports PGA Tour franchise for the first time.

EA has committed to regularly updating its golfing sports game, promising to add more challenges and courses over time. Since the franchise's inception with Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf in 1998, Electronic Arts has generated over $771 million in revenue. Gameplay Indicators

Add new “Modern” swing meter visuals with notchless design and improved visibly in bright skies.

The visual setting "Club Trail" has been replaced by the new "Swing Meter Style" setting. Users now have the option to choose their preferred swing meter visuals and enable or disable club trails.

The aiming arc has been updated to include a visual effect and change color if the ball is projected to collide before reaching its highest point. This enhancement is designed to provide clearer indication when aiming at obvious obstacles such as bunker lips directly in front of the golfer or trees that are not visible.

The putt read line, aiming arc, and online ball trails have undergone visual enhancements in line with these updates. Additionally, the issue of fixed flat edges occasionally appearing on the shot dispersion indicator when aimed at highly sloped terrain has been resolved.

Fixed big hit moments sometimes showing incorrect ball tracer lines near where the ball is hit.

Gameplay Physics

Altitude information has now been incorporated into the course select screen, along with an updated understanding of course-specific ball flight physics. It is important to consider that when playing at high altitude courses such as Banff Springs, the ball tends to travel a greater distance and follows a slightly lower trajectory.

Minor improvements to ball rolling physics, fixing some unnatural movement that could occur when slowly rolling down steep slopes.

Gameplay Animation

Fix instances where swinging while the golfer is moving to address the ball would result in a frozen swing animation.

Fix instances where the golfer could get stuck in a continuous shuffle.

Gameplay Cameras

Update address camera obstruction logic to move to the next highest available camera instead of always moving to the highest camera.

Fix drop ball camera positioning for left-handed golfers.

Gameplay HUD

Only display the drop-down text that says "For eagle to win the hole" when the golfer is on the green or within 50 yards of the hole.

When tying the hole will result in winning the match, modify the drop-down text to read "...to win the match" instead of "...to tie the hole."

Fix for the ball flight graph not being updated when ball flight is skipped.

Gameplay Misc

Improve AI golfer’s ability to make short putts.

Fix for rare occurrences that could incorrectly place the golfer under tournament structures for their next shot.

Fix for ball being visible in practice state after a hole flyover is viewed while the golfer is in practice state.

Career

Fix for a crash that could occur after completing the last hole in a playoff.

Updated David Lingmerth to have Sweden instead of USA flag.

Online

Permanently disable golfer reaction NIS in online gameplay in order to speed up play for all players.

Improved solution for preventing softlock issues during online gameplay when the player's hole timer expires while utilizing the "Fast Play" setting.

Resolved the issue of players appearing in the incorrect order on the in-game online scoreboard after one player quits or disconnects during a round.

Challenges
