In a recent interview with Apple Music, Reneé Rapp shared her strong passion for her music career, which takes on a new significance following her departure from Sex Lives of College Girls. During the interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the 23-year-old expressed her unwavering love for music, regardless of any challenges or negative experiences she has faced. Rapp firmly stated that music brings her immense joy and fulfillment, and she has no desire to return to a life without it.

Rapp continued to express, "The most intense emotional fluctuations that I experience are also the ones that make other things extremely difficult. I have a deep passion for my music, and when I face setbacks, they hit me hard. It seems like there are people who can simply brush things off and not care too much. I admire them for that, and I wish I could have that quality too."

The statement from the talented singer, known for her hit song "Talk Too Much," comes as she promotes her upcoming debut album, Snow Angel, set to release in August. These remarks follow her recent announcement of leaving the TV show Sex Lives of College Girls.

"Moving to LA with College Girls introduced me to some of my favorite people. And now, after 2 and a half years, I am grateful for this community," Rapp shared on her Instagram Story on Monday, July 10. "Thank you, Mindy [Kaling], Justin [Noble], and everyone at Max for believing in me. Playing Leighton has truly changed my life, especially in a world where queer works often get undermined." Rapp expressed that her portrayal of Leighton Murray on the Max comedy show has greatly influenced her own identity. She stated on social media, "I now love myself even more than before knowing her. I hope she has also brought some of that positivity to you all. Although she may be a small part of representation, even the smallest parts matter. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her and all of you. I am eagerly looking forward to this season and I can't wait for you to witness what we have in store for her and the other girls."

The details of how Rapp's character will say goodbye to her classmates at Essex College have not been disclosed yet. However, Deadline reported that she will make appearances in multiple episodes of season 3. While producer Kaling showed support for Rapp when the news was announced, speculation about Rapp's departure arose when it was reported that she had hired attorney Bryan Freedman.

Rapp gained prominence for her portrayal of Regina George in the Broadway production of Mean Girls The Musical. She assumed the role in 2019, succeeding Tony nominee Taylor Louderman. Following the closure of the show due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rapp secured a leading role in SLOCG.

When it comes to performing on stage or screen, Rapp finds it easier because she doesn't feel a sense of ownership over the material. However, when it comes to music, she becomes more possessive and has been fearful of that aspect since the beginning. Rapp explained that trusting others is easier in the context of stage and screen because it's necessary, whereas with music it has been a challenge for her. She acknowledged that working with incredible people whom she trusts makes a significant difference and she appreciates their presence. Rapp emphasized that while some individuals are truly remarkable and enjoyable to be around, she doesn't believe it's universally difficult or that everyone is unpleasant.
