Remnant 2: Unveiling the Ultimate Scrap-Boosting Secrets!

Discover the essentials in Remnant 2 with our guide on how to wisely spend your Scrap Avoid wasting resources on 7 items that offer little value, from worn equipment to ineffective curatives Optimize your gameplay by making informed choices on upgrades and materials

Highlights

In Remnant 2, gathering Scrap is intentionally more difficult than in the previous game, discouraging players from easily farming a large amount of currency.

Certain items, like the Worn Admiral's Ring, Timeworn Unguent, and Purified Salve, may not be worth investing Scrap in due to their limited value for the average player. It is advised to skip spending Scrap on essential melee weapons or upgrade materials, as there are superior alternatives to prioritize, such as acquiring additional equipment or reserving Scrap for more impactful upgrades like Mutators.

In Remnant 2, players will face a dilemma when it comes to deciding how to spend their hard-earned Scrap. Unlike its predecessor, Remnant: From the Ashes, where acquiring Scrap was relatively simple by breaking pots, crates, and barrels, the developers have intentionally made gathering Scrap more challenging in Remnant 2. It seems they wanted to prevent players from easily accumulating a vast amount of Scrap. Considering this, it is advisable for players to refrain from investing their Scrap in various items offered by NPCs or other sources.

7 Worn Admiral's Ring: Equipment

The first item players will come across is likely the earliest 'bait' item, sold by Reggie in Ward 13. This item can easily deceive players who overestimate their skills in the game. They may purchase this ring, thinking that all they have to do is avoid getting hit, only to be quickly defeated by a single decent hit from a basic enemy.

While this ring is indeed a valuable purchase for players who possess exceptional dodging abilities, such skilled individuals are relatively scarce within the overall player community of Remnant 2.

6 Timeworn Unguent: Curative

The Suppression Status Ailment in Remnant 2 is undoubtedly one of the more ambiguous ailments in the game. There is a lot of misinformation circulating about the different ailments in the game, and players often find themselves most confused about Suppression.

When a player is affected by Suppression, their Mod Power Generation is significantly hindered, but that's essentially it. While this can pose a major disadvantage for certain builds during boss fights, it isn't all that bad for the average build. As a result, spending valuable scrap at the Dryzr Replicator on N'Erud to obtain some Timeworn Unguent doesn't appear to be worth it, particularly when there are Rings like the Suppression Ward that completely disregard the ailment.

5 Purified Salve: Curative

Players should not use Scrap to remove Suppression with Timeworn Unguent, just as they should not use Purified Salve to get rid of Curse. Although Curse is a more noticeable Status Ailment, as it reduces Max HP, it is only a serious concern during the boss fight with the Red Prince. Similar to Timeworn Unguent, there is a better solution to completely ignore the Curse mechanic in the Red Prince boss fight. Players can simply craft the Hex Ward Ring at Nimue for only 5 Lumenite Crystals, which prevents them from getting Cursed while wearing it.

4 Any Basic Melee Weapon: Equipment

Players often wait until they reach a certain point in the game or want to collect all items before purchasing most of the firearms and melee weapons from Brabus' shop in Ward 13. Occasionally, they may buy a gun or two to experiment, but upgrading weapons in Remnant 2 requires a significant amount of Scrap and Materials, making it impractical to switch weapons frequently. It is considered a poor decision to spend Scrap on the 'Starter' Melee Weapons sold by Brabus, such as the Challenger's Iron Greatsword or the Medic's Steel Flail. Unless players are specifically focusing on a melee build early on and do not have access to other sources of melee weapons, like the Corruptor in Yaesha or Sha Hala in N'Erud, it is not advisable to waste Scrap on items like the Scrap Hatchet.

3 Meteorite Shard Ring: Equipment

The Meteorite Shard Ring holds the greatest significance for a specific group of individuals. However, for the wider range of players in Remnant 2, it serves no purpose and is essentially a pointless expenditure of Scrap. This ring is designed to cater to those interested in replicating a widely popular 'comedic' playstyle in Remnant: From the Ashes. This playstyle involves utilizing the 'flop' dodge, a result of reaching the maximum level of Encumbrance (often while being equipped with the Leto Armor Set), as the primary source of damage, essentially maneuvering through the game by performing belly flops.

2 Upgrade Materials: Material

While purchasing upgrade materials from Cass may seem like a good investment initially, it is advisable to prioritize spending Scrap on other items before allocating it to a Material fund. This is not to discourage buying Iron, Galvanized Iron, and Lumenite Crystals from Cass, but rather suggest that it should be a lower priority purchase.

Once players have acquired all the desired items such as Rings, Amulets, Weapons, Mutators, Relics, and Weapon Mods from NPCs, it becomes more acceptable to utilize surplus Scrap to build up a substantial collection of different types of Iron. Additionally, players should keep in mind that Cass' Shop serves as a means to 'trade' items with their friends.

1 Mutator Upgrades 2-9: Item Upgrade

Finally, let's conclude with Mutators. In Remnant 2, Mutators offer an additional layer of depth to builds, a feature that was absent in the previous game, Remnant: From the Ashes. Many of these Mutators are slightly altered or weaker versions of the Armor Set Bonuses from R: FtA. Players can upgrade each Mutator to level 10, where they will also unlock an extra bonus effect alongside their default function.

However, there isn't much incentive to upgrade Mutators before reaching level 10, particularly if players can only perform one or two upgrades per trip to Ward 13. The increase in effect per Upgrade Level is typically minimal, usually just a few percentage points. Therefore, it is generally more beneficial to spend Scrap on other things until players have enough Corrupted Lumenite Crystals saved up to make a large purchase and go from level 2 to maximum. This way, players will experience a significant boost, as if their Double Barrel Hand Gun with Bandit +10 suddenly becomes even more powerful.

Remnant 2 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
