Alex Jamieson, Spurlock's second wife and mother of Laken, expressed her grief over his passing on social media. She shared a heartfelt message on May 26, alongside a slideshow of photos of Spurlock. In her post, she mentioned how much he meant to his family, boys, friends, and the film community. She also expressed gratitude for their friendship in the end.

Morgan was a kind, imaginative, and committed person. He had a deep love for his friends and children. When he was passionate about something, he fully immersed himself in it. Morgan enjoyed dancing, laughing, sharing stories, and motivating others as well. He always supported those around him, consistently attending art shows and offering assistance with projects, even after they had both moved on in their personal lives.

Jamieson was featured in Spurlock's 2004 documentary Super Size Me and authored a cookbook in 2006 called The Great American Detox Diet, sharing his journey of losing weight after consuming only McDonald's food for 30 days during the film's production. Despite their various collaborations, Jamieson considers their greatest achievement to be their son.

Most of our text messages consist of sharing cute and funny pictures of our wonderful son. Even during tough times, we would still come together to celebrate and laugh about how our son is growing up to be kind, funny, and creative. I miss you so much, my friend. The pain of your absence is more than I expected. Rest in peace.

Spurlock, who was previously married to Priscilla Sommer from 1996 to 2003, caused a stir in December 2017 when he confessed to being unfaithful in all his past relationships.

In a long statement, Spurlock admitted to past instances of sexual misconduct. He acknowledged his role in the issue after seeing survivors speak out during the #MeToo movement. "After hearing countless stories over the months, I realize that I am not just a bystander, but also part of the problem," he stated.

Spurlock then remembered an incident from his college days where he was accused of raping a woman, but no charges were filed or investigations were conducted. He also mentioned settling a sexual harassment claim made by a female employee.

In a reflection on his past behavior, Spurlock admitted to calling his female assistant 'hot pants' or 'sex pants' as a joke from across the office. He later realized that his words had dehumanized and disrespected her.

Shortly after sharing the confession, Spurlock stepped down from his production company, Warrior Poets.
