Ray J is now responding to Princess Love's divorce filing, which marks the fourth time they have filed for divorce during their relationship. The 43-year-old singer is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their two young children, 5-year-old daughter Melody and 4-year-old son Epik. This information was revealed in court documents obtained by People on Thursday, April 4th.
Ray J, whose real name is Willie Ray Norwood, has requested that some of his and Love's assets be divided, including "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects," as well as his earnings from the time of their separation, which is yet to be determined.
Moreover, Ray J, represented by well-known celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, has requested that each party pay their own attorney fees. In the filing, he also asked for spousal support for Love, who is 39 years old, to be decided at a later time.
Love announced her decision to divorce the "Sexy Can I" singer on February 26. She shared a heartfelt statement about the split on Instagram the same day. She started by addressing her friends and family, expressing the heavy hearts with which they shared the news. Love mentioned that after a lot of reflection, discussion, and counseling, they realized that their paths had diverged. The couple got married in August 2016 after dating for four years. They had a daughter named Melody in May 2018 and a son named Epik in January 2020.
Love initially filed for divorce from the singer in May 2020, but later requested to have it dismissed two months later. In September of that same year, Ray J filed for divorce. This news of the breakup came one year after Love accused Ray J of leaving her and Melody “stranded” in Las Vegas after the BET’s Soul Train Awards.
Love claimed on social media that Ray J prevented her from contacting him. However, Ray J's representative denied her accusations, stating that they were untrue. Ray J himself addressed the situation on Instagram.
