Rasmus Hojlund: Manchester United's Game-Changer? Why They're Set to Beat Paris St-Germain's £43m Bid

Man Utd confident of signing Atalanta striker despite PSG's £43m bid Rasmus Hojlund, a 20-year-old seeking a move to Old Trafford, is the target Negotiations ongoing with Atalanta seeking €70m plus €10m in add-ons FFP constraints make PSG's €50m offer unlikely to impact Man Utd Randal Kolo Muani considered as an alternative

Manchester United are confident that they can reach an agreement with Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund, allowing him sufficient time to train with the team and prepare for the first game of the season against Wolves on August 14. The player is eager for the move to Old Trafford and has no concerns about personal terms. However, there is still a difference in valuation, as Atalanta is requesting £59.8m (€70m) plus £8.5m (€10m) in additional payments.

Paris Saint-Germain has submitted a £43m (€50m) bid, however, Manchester United remains steadfast in their approach and will not be influenced by other clubs' interest in the player. United's recent negotiations for Mason Mount and Andre Onana have demonstrated their commitment to staying within their budget for players this summer.

In keeping with Financial Fair Play limitations and their firm stance on price points, Manchester United has been hesitant to exceed a £51m (€60m) package up to this point.

Despite that, they maintain a positive connection with the Serie A team following negotiations for Amad Diallo. Moreover, they have stayed in constant communication with their counterparts to find a middle ground regarding the fee for Hojlund. Both clubs are progressing towards reaching a consensus.

United are aware of Hojlund's untapped potential and see him as a raw talent with the possibility of becoming an elite player under Erik ten Hag's guidance. It is acknowledged that if they secure the signing of the Denmark international, Marcus Rashford might have to step in as United's main attacking force temporarily, allowing Hojlund the time to adapt and develop. However, in the long run, he is viewed as a player who could potentially reach world-class status under Ten Hag's mentorship.

United don't have to sell in order to acquire Hojlund and are relying on good sales this summer and in the January transfer window to meet their financial requirements. Despite being confident in finalizing the deal, the club has also been engaged in simultaneous negotiations for Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt as a backup option.

United have dedicated extensive efforts towards Ajax's multi-talented Mohammed Kudus, along with another potential acquisition, to ensure that they avoid a prolonged process or lack offensive options at the beginning of the season.

On the other hand, PSG is actively seeking to secure a striker and holds the belief that they have a chance to acquire Harry Kane this summer in the event that Tottenham chooses to offload their English captain.

Ten Hag: Real Madrid defeat shows why Man Utd need a striker

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United's inability to take their chances in a 2-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid "absolutely" emphasised their need for a new striker.

United had several opportunities but were unable to score from any of their 14 attempts - a recurring issue that mirrors their struggles in converting chances from the previous season.

When questioned about whether the offensive performance in Texas underscored the need for a new striker, Ten Hag responded affirmatively, stating, "Without a doubt."

"The pressing can be improved right from the beginning and our ability to score goals was also a concern. We definitely require players who can excel in one-on-one situations, as we encountered quite a few of those."
