There have been reports that Manchester United is preparing to make an official offer for Chelsea's midfielder, Mason Mount. However, it seems that there is still a difference in the valuation of the player between the two clubs. Negotiations are ongoing as the 24-year-old's contract is set to expire in June 2024.
United are not willing to pay more than the price they have set for Mount, even though he only has one year left on his contract with Chelsea. In case the deal falls through, the club has alternative targets, including Moises Caicedo, a midfielder from Brighton & Hove Albion who has been on United's radar for some time.
They have reportedly requested to be updated on any updates regarding the future of the highly sought-after 21-year-old. In addition, Manchester United has shown interest in Declan Rice, the current captain of West Ham. However, their ability to make a move for Rice this summer may be dependent on the funds generated from player departures and the outcome of the ongoing takeover proceedings.
United's main focus is on securing a new striker, however, their pursuit of Harry Kane appears to be a long shot as Tottenham are unwilling to part ways with the player, particularly to a Premier League competitor. In light of this, United has initiated discussions regarding the availability of Atalanta's Rasmus Hojland and is also monitoring the situation with Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani, along with other potential options.
United is reportedly eyeing a potential move for 26-year-old central defender Min-Jae Kim from Napoli. The club is said to be keeping an eye on the situation in case there are any departures in the position. Kim's representatives are aware of United's interest and it's believed that he has a release clause of £42m that will be active for 15 days starting on July 1.
Monaco's Axel Disasi is another player United are said to be looking at and the France international wants the move.
Costa and Raya among potential De Gea replacements
Meanwhile, the goalkeeping situation at United remains unresolved, with David de Gea's new contract not yet signed off.
The club is currently conducting thorough research on several potential keepers, which include Diogo Costa from Porto and David Raya from Brentford. Despite De Gea's potential continuation with the team, Manager Erik ten Hag is committed to fostering healthy competition for all positions and cannot promise that De Gea will retain his role as the top goalkeeper next season.
