Raquel Leviss. Charles Sykes/Bravo
Raquel Leviss made her first appearance since entering a mental health treatment facility following her cheating controversy with Tom Sandoval.
The 28-year-old Vanderpump Rules celebrity was captured on camera in Tuscon, Arizona, on Tuesday, July 18, while visiting her relatives. Page Six obtained the images, which show Raquel wearing shorts, sneakers, and a button-up shirt over a t-shirt, along with a hat that had the message "Be a good person."
Raquel made a public appearance on the same day that her Pump Rules co-star Scheana Shay shared snippets of a cast trip to Lake Tahoe on her Instagram Story. According to an exclusive source, Raquel's future on the Bravo series is still uncertain. Both parties are hoping to come to an agreement that allows Raquel to receive the necessary treatment while still being involved in the show.
A representative for Raquel, the former pageant queen, confirmed in April that she had entered treatment. Prior to the discovery of the relationship, Raquel and her family had already made the decision for her to voluntarily seek mental health counseling. It was originally planned for her to enter the facility before the VPR reunion on March 23, but she chose to fulfill her filming commitment first. Bravo and production were aware of her decision and fully supportive of her journey toward improved mental health.
In June, a confidential source revealed to Us that Raquel had been in the facility for "68 days and counting." The source explained that her treatment was focused on helping her understand the underlying reasons for her decisions and to learn from her mistakes, with the intention of making better choices and becoming a improved individual.
Raquel's decision to seek treatment happened one month after her highly publicized affair with Sandoval, which caused the end of his nine-year relationship with Ariana Madix. Despite facing criticism from fans and colleagues during this tumultuous period, the insider stressed that Raquel expressed genuine remorse for her actions and had offered repeated apologies.
After the scandal became public, Raquel publicly apologized to Ariana, aged 38, on Instagram. In her apology, Raquel acknowledged that she was not a victim in the situation and mentioned that she was actively seeking guidance from a counselor to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that influenced her actions.
In her message, Raquel admitted to seeking emotional validation through unhealthy intimate relationships, disregarding her own well-being, and occasionally causing harm to others while prioritizing those connections over her friendships. She expressed her commitment to introspection and making more positive choices in the future.
Raquel dropped a bombshell about the timeline of the affair at the end of part 3 of the Pump Rules season 10 reunion, which aired in June.
"I believe it is crucial for me to be honest. I have been dishonest and deceitful all this time, and I no longer wish to continue lying, especially since everything has already been revealed," she expressed. She then confessed that she and Sandoval had a second encounter during the Mexico trip, specifically at Scheana and Brock Davies' wedding in August 2022."
Raquel disclosed another crucial element of the puzzle, asserting that Sandoval desired for them to persist in deceiving others.
"This is the sole narrative we've concurred upon rectifying. And I understand Tom's motive behind concealing the truth; engaging in a romantic encounter with someone's partner within the confines of their own home while they are away, particularly during a mourning period like a funeral, presents an exceedingly unfavorable impression," she tearfully explained, alluding to Ariana's absence for mourning her grandmother's passing in September 2022.
Raquel and Sandoval, despite professing their love for each other at the reunion, have chosen not to define their relationship following the affair. Addressing the situation in a March Instagram statement, Raquel acknowledged the undeniable complexities of their romance and expressed her hesitation to categorize their connection or speculate about the future. Her primary focus at the moment is her own healing process.
During an appearance on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" podcast in April, Sandoval reiterated the sentiment, stating, "We share a strong bond as close friends, but we prefer not to define our relationship with any specific label," when speaking to Howie Mandel.
