Rangers have secured the signature of Danilo Pereira da Silva from Feyenoord on a five-year contract, in a deal valued at £6m. The 24-year-old striker had been a priority target for Rangers, and after several determined attempts, he becomes Michael Beale's eighth signing of the summer.
Danilo, who netted 12 goals in the previous season, clinched the Eredivisie championship twice, initially with Ajax and later with Feyenoord in the last season.
"I'm absolutely thrilled," expressed the Brazilian upon joining Rangers. "I'm eagerly anticipating playing at Ibrox and showcasing my skills to the passionate fans."
I am already deeply enamored with the club and eagerly anticipate being a member of the Rangers team. It is now time to put in the effort and I aspire to reciprocate the affection they have bestowed upon me.
Beale further mentioned, "I have personally kept tabs on Danilo ever since his stint at Ajax. He had a remarkable year on loan at FC Twente, followed by a return to Ajax before eventually joining Feyenoord last summer."
He has emerged as the champion in the Dutch league for the past two seasons and boasts an impressive ratio of goals scored per minute.
With his thrilling style of play, he possesses a penchant for both creating and scoring goals, making him a perfect addition to our squad. His arrival will provide us with an additional formidable attacking option.
The discussions have been ongoing for quite some time, thus I am thrilled to announce that he has finally joined our club.
Danilo expressed a strong desire for this transfer and has full confidence in the plan we have set out for both him and the team going forward. This played a crucial role in the negotiations as he was determined to become a part of Rangers. We extend our best wishes to him for a successful journey here at Rangers.
Gers close in on Cifuentes deal
Rangers are also closing in on a summer move for another long-term target - Los Angeles midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
Beale announced on We News that the club had already obtained a pre-contract agreement for the Ecuador international. His current contract is set to expire in December. Discussing the deal, Beale mentioned the logistical aspects such as work permits that need to be considered.
"The clubs are still talking. He's out of contract at the end of the year and we have an agreement for that.
"We would like to bring it to a close early so he can join us in this window.
"Those discussions are ongoing."
Kieran Dowell, Cyriel Dessers, Jack Butland, Sam Lammers, Leon Balogun, Dujon Sterling and Abdallah Sima also joined Rangers during this transfer window.
