Rachel Zegler is giving major Disney Princess energy in the first official look of the live-action Snow White movie.
Disney revealed a new photo on Friday, October 27, showcasing Zegler, 22, dressed as the beloved Snow White. Zegler gracefully adorned Snow White’s iconic blue and yellow gown, complemented by red shoes and the character’s signature bob hairstyle. The enchanting image captures Zegler’s Snow White surrounded by all seven lovable dwarfs from the classic animated film: Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Sleepy, and Doc.
In addition, it was announced on Friday that the anticipated remake of the 1937 animated masterpiece will now premiere in theaters on March 21, 2025, adjusting from its original scheduled release date of March 22, 2024.
In addition to Zegler, the first Latina to portray Snow White, the film features Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Andrew Burnap as a newly introduced character named Jonathan, and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Zegler expressed her enthusiasm and pride after securing the role in 2021.
“Never in a million years did I imagine that this possibility would be open to me,” Zegler expressed in a January 2022 interview with Variety. “It's rare to witness Snow Whites of Latin descent on screen, despite Snow White holding significant importance in Spanish-speaking countries. Blanca Nieves is an enormous symbol, whether referring to the Disney animation or various adaptations of the Grimm fairy tale and its associated narratives. However, individuals who resemble or are like me playing such roles are not commonly seen.”

In time, Zegler gained attention for her remarks regarding the new film's "modern edge" in comparison to the original.
Speaking to ExtraTV in 2022, she stated, "The original cartoon was released in 1937, and it's quite evident. It heavily focuses on her romantic relationship with a man who essentially stalks her. That's strange. Very strange. So this time, we didn't go down that route... We have a different approach, which may lead many to assume it's a love story just because we've cast a male character... However, it's not primarily about the love story, which is truly wonderful."
Zegler clarified that in the remake, the protagonist will not rely on the prince for salvation or fantasize about finding true love. Instead, Zegler's version of Snow White will center around her journey to embrace her potential as a leader.
