Rachel Zegler and Josh Andrés Rivera have showcased their aspirational relationship.
During the production of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in 2022, Zegler, aged 22, and Rivera, aged 28, unveiled their practice of exchanging notes. Rivera reminisced about the inception of this tradition, which occurred while he was engaged in his artistic doodles within his compact academy notebook.
Rivera shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show that Rachel asked him to depict her as a flower. He proceeded to draw a simplistic flower with a smiley face and legs, and handed it to her.
A video clip shows Rivera passing a note to Zegler, who initially appeared moved by the gesture, thinking it was something endearing. However, she burst into laughter upon opening the note.
"Afterwards, I developed a strong interest in drawing and noticed a significant improvement," Rivera playfully remarked, while Zegler chimed in, "He has truly honed his artistic skills." Rivera then proudly displayed a dog drawing he had created for Kelly Clarkson, although it appeared to be the work of a beginner.
The couple publicly acknowledged their relationship in February 2021 when Zegler expressed her affection for Josh Andres Rivera on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I love Josh Andres Rivera."

Zegler, the actress portraying Lucy Gray Baird in the Hunger Games prequel, revealed to Clarkson, who is 41 years old, that she initially rejected the role. Rivera, who plays Sejanus Plinth, promptly contacted Zegler after being cast and informed her, "I will take on that project that you were considering."
Ultimately, Zegler had a change of heart, which she expressed her happiness about. "I'm really glad I did," Zegler stated. "I think we officially confirmed our decision on the same day too, because I remember that FaceTime call."
Zegler and Rivera had previously worked together on the set of Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, which commenced filming in the summer of 2019. In March 2022, while accepting the Best Actress award at the National Board of Review, Zegler expressed her admiration for her boyfriend.
"Appreciation for your companionship, both in my dreams and in my everyday life," Zegler expressed. "I truly cherish sharing this journey with you. Grateful for evoking laughter."
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes premiered in cinemas on November 17th.
