Jennifer Lawrence discussed her potential interest in reprising her role as the beloved Katniss Everdeen in future installments of The Hunger Games film series. Lawrence is widely recognized for her portrayal of the fiery heroine in all four movies of the franchise, which include The Hunger Games (2012), Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015). This role played a vital role in elevating Lawrence's career to new heights, solidifying her status as a highly esteemed actress in Hollywood.
During the interview with Variety, Lawrence expressed her eagerness to reprise her role in the Hunger Games franchise. The esteemed Oscar winner revealed that she would wholeheartedly welcome the opportunity to return to the world of Panem. While promoting her new R-rated coming-of-age comedy, No Hard Feelings, Lawrence exclaimed, "Oh, my God – absolutely!" She went on to emphasize her excitement at the possibility, proclaiming, "If Katniss could ever make a comeback in my life, it would be a definite yes." As Lawrence took a momentary gaze away from the camera, she added, "My producing partner couldn't believe it," hinting that her producer, seated next to her, was taken aback by this revelation.
Lawrence's comments come at a time when interest in the Hunger Games franchise is rekindling, thanks to the upcoming release of a prequel film called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This prequel takes place six and a half decades before the main series and follows the journey of young Coriolanus Snow as he becomes the President of Panem after his family's downfall. Actor Tom Blyth is playing the role of Coriolanus, taking over from Donald Sutherland, who played the character in the original films.
During a conversation with Andrew Feldman, an actor from No Hard Feelings, Lawrence playfully teased him about not being old enough to remember her appearance in The Hunger Games. Feldman replied that he was around 10 years old at the time, but he had read the books and watched the movies, which he found to be a phenomenal experience. He even texted Lawrence while rewatching the films and praised her incredible performance in a genre that was groundbreaking at the time. Lawrence jokingly responded by expressing disbelief that Feldman was able to read at such a young age.
She has since appeared in a range of films, such as Mother!, Netflix's Don't Look Up, and the critically acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook. Currently, Lawrence can be seen in the bold comedy No Hard Feelings, portraying the character of Maddie, a former Uber driver who, after being let go from her job, receives an unexpected proposition from a wealthy couple. They propose that she seduce their socially withdrawn 19-year-old son before he heads off to college, with a car as compensation.
You can watch The Hunger Games on Amazon Prime Video.
