Rachel Bilson found it strange that Whoopi Goldberg was so passionate about her remarks on men's sex lives, but she isn't upset about the extra publicity. "I should be sending Whoopi a Christmas present!" Bilson, 42, quipped during an appearance on the "Bill Maher's Club" podcast on Sunday, December 17th.

Bilson expressed that Goldberg’s remarks felt like a form of shaming, adding that she typically does not respond to criticism but felt compelled to in order to draw more people to the conversation. In a recent episode of her podcast, "Broad Ideas," Bilson shared her view that it would be "a little weird" for a man in his 40s to have had only a few sexual partners, although she noted that it ultimately depends on the individual and that it is not fair to judge someone's sexual history.

Goldberg, aged 67, subsequently expressed on an episode of The View her belief that Bilson's concern over men's sex lives was "very odd."

"Traditionally, men were taught to have multiple sexual partners and do as they pleased, while women were expected to adhere to different standards," Goldberg said. "But now that the tables have turned, and young women are asking why they are being told what to do, some men are upset. I don't understand. If he's happy and you're having a good time, why complain?"

Bilson had previously addressed Goldberg's comments in a podcast on Sunday, but she also expressed her longstanding admiration for Whoopi and emphasized the importance of hearing the entire conversation before forming judgments. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly shortly after the podcast episode was released in October, she voiced her concern upon learning of the criticism.

Bilson emphasized that her show provides a safe and open platform for discussing anything, and she is committed to keeping the conversation intact without censoring it.

"I made the choice to preserve the conversation in its entirety because often in life, we say something and then later reflect on it," she explained. "The key message I want to convey is that it doesn't matter. Maybe in the past, I would have judged it, but I no longer do that. It's important to me to communicate that I don't want to come across as judgmental. What I initially said is not as important as conveying this point."
