Queen Camilla is a pro at rewearing gowns.
Camilla, aged 76, wore the same Bruce Oldfield ivory gown to the State Opening of Parliament that she had previously worn for King Charles III's coronation in May. On Tuesday, November 7, she paired the gown with the George IV State Diadem crown. The gown is adorned with golden floral embroidery, the names of her nine grandchildren, a monogram of her "CR" emblem, and images of her two Jack Russell Terriers. The Royal Collection Trust describes the tiara as a silver and gold-lined diadem with a frame set transparent with diamonds and a pearl band. It is embellished with 1,333 diamonds and a four-carat yellow jewel on the crown's cross. Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96, frequently wore this headpiece.
Camilla initially wore the gown with Queen Mary's crown, as she was previously the Queen Consort to King George V in 1911. The crown was adorned with approximately 2000 diamonds, set in a silver and gold frame, accompanied by a plum velvet cap and an ermine band.
During a May 2022 interview with The Telegraph, Oldfield, who has been working with the royal family for many years, expressed his excitement and admiration for creating the gown.
“I believe her desire for a dress echoes the universal longing for allure ... My creative process leans toward a classical approach, focusing on enhancing the body's natural beauty,” he expressed. “What made this commission exceptionally gratifying was our extensive understanding of her physique and preferences. I can easily discern when something doesn't meet her liking!”

"For her ascent to the throne of this illustrious nation, it was imperative that her dress exuded an air of dignity rather than frivolity," he continued. Oldfield acknowledged that Charles and Camilla share a profound affection for nature, gardening, and strolling, which prompted him to embellish the attire with intricate embroidery depicting vibrant wildflowers.
Camilla's decision to reprise a previously worn gown is not unprecedented.
Last month, she elegantly donned another Oldfield creation at a reception celebrating Charles' inaugural visit to London post-coronation. This stunning black dress showcased a scoop neckline, puffy sleeves, and intricate silver leaf embellishments. In homage to Elizabeth, she chose to adorn her favorite tiara for the occasion - the renowned Girls of Great Britain and Ireland crown.
Earlier in March, she had previously flaunted this attire during a state banquet held in Germany, accompanied by the exquisite Greville Tiara.
