PS5 Release Date Finally Confirmed for Former Xbox Console Exclusive Horror Game

The trailer, which is around a minute long, showcases the game's eerie atmosphere, terrifying creatures, and puzzle-focused gameplay mechanics. Additionally, it introduces the Deluxe Edition of Scorn and announces its availability for pre-order on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The trend of timed console exclusivity is not uncommon nowadays. Just last month, Xbox Game Pass added the indie puzzle game Maquette, which was previously exclusive to PlayStation consoles. This time, however, Xbox is allowing one of its former exclusives to be released on PlayStation. As developers and publishers strive to reach wider audiences, it is likely that this trend will continue.

Scorn received mixed reviews upon its release on Xbox Series X/S and PC last year. While many praised the game's chilling atmosphere, visually striking H.R. Giger-inspired horror visuals, and captivating soundtrack, critics were less impressed with Scorn's combat and puzzles. The game's relatively short runtime also disappointed some players. However, despite these criticisms, Scorn was still regarded as a unique and original addition to the horror genre.

Partly due to high player expectations, Scorn was one of the few Xbox-exclusive games that faced a barrage of negative reviews at launch. Nevertheless, the game has managed to cultivate a cult following, possibly due to its availability on Xbox Game Pass from the beginning. The upcoming release on PS5 may also help attract a new audience.
