Respecting the privacy of Taylor Swift and Halle Bailey: Unveiling the importance of personal boundaries in the lives of public figures

How would you feel if strangers publicly scrutinized every aspect of your life or used your name in stories and product campaigns unrelated to you? Celebrities, despite sharing their personal lives, still deserve privacy.

Lets talk about it.

Something to sip on…

Two celebrities recently stood as examples of this baseless belief that stars apparently arent allowed to have private lives.

The publication of an opinion piece by the New York Times sparked controversy as it speculated about the possibility of Taylor Swift being a closeted queer person. Swift's fans, known as the Swifties, were swift to denounce the article. Some were not necessarily upset about the suggestion that Swift might be part of the LGBTQ+ community, but rather at the idea that she would keep it hidden if she were.

The superstar singer herself has remained silent on the matter. However, those close to Swift were displeased with the article, with one individual close to the situation telling CNN, "due to her immense success, there is a Taylor-shaped gap in people's ethics at this moment. This article would not have been allowed to be written about Shawn Mendes or any male artist whose sexuality has been questioned by fans."

Another celebrity who recently faced rumors about keeping a "secret" was Halle Bailey. She and her boyfriend, rapper DDG, chose not to publicly acknowledge their pregnancy until after the birth of their son.

Bailey has not publicly explained her decision not to disclose her pregnancy. Similar to Swift, who has stated that she does not identify as queer, there has been widespread speculation. Let me make this clear: just like anyone else, a celebrity has the right to share or withhold information about their personal life as they see fit. Enjoying their work does not entitle us to details about their personal lives.

One thing to talk about…

Can you believe it's been 20 years since "Mean Girls" was released? Lindsay Lohan made an appearance at the New York City premiere of the musical adaptation this week, and it was fantastic to see her alongside creator Tina Fey, reminiscing about the original film from 2004.

If we are honest, there was a time when the world really worried about the direction Lohan was heading. Its good to see her looking great and happy after all these years.

Also, totally fetch.
