Catherine, Princess of Wales, will not be able to attend the Colonel's Review, a military parade in London in early June, as she is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
The Colonel's Review, scheduled for June 8, serves as a practice run for Trooping the Colour, the official birthday parade for the King, set to take place on June 15.
It is uncertain if Kate will be absent from the annual military event at Horse Guards Parade in London, known for its grandeur and tradition.
Many had hoped that the beloved 42-year-old royal would lead the ceremony as Colonel of the Irish Guards, as the regiment will be presenting its flags at this year's event.
Lt. Gen. James Bucknall will be standing in to take the salute while Kate is away. He has attended every Sovereign’s Birthday Parade since 2009 when he became Colonel of the Coldstream Guards. Lt. Gen. Bucknall has a long history of serving as a Coldstream Guards Officer for over 45 years.
Last year's parade was the first for King Charles III following his accession to the British throne.

The Princess of Wales has been absent from public events since December. It was anticipated that she would resume her official responsibilities after Easter. However, in March, she disclosed her cancer diagnosis and shared that she had begun chemotherapy.
After the news was made public, a source from the royal family informed CNN that she will not be resuming her frontline royal duties until she receives medical clearance from her healthcare team.
There was speculation about King Charles participating in Trooping the Colour next month due to his ongoing cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that he will attend.
This year, the 75-year-old monarch will inspect troops from a carriage instead of on horseback. He will be seated in an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla during the review.
The royal household had previously stated that every event with the King would be assessed and adjusted according to medical advice.
In February, Charles shared his cancer diagnosis, but he has now returned to his royal duties while still undergoing treatment.
The Trooping the Colour celebration is when members of the royal family come together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the crowds after the parade.
